From people who actually own a stylecraft home, what do you like or dislike about it? We looked at some new homes, but noticed they didn't come with ceiling fans, blinds, or garage door opener. I guess this is considered as an upgrade.
I currently have 5 of them. Best thing is their excellent floor plans and high ceilings that make the smaller homes feel bigger. Every Stylecraft I've seen had a fan in the master and living with option for other bedrooms. Blinds were standard and Id be surprised if they would let a house close without blinds since it effects the view from the outside. Garage door opener optional.
Was a framing carpenter while in school in the 90's. We built for everyone from your big custom guys to Stylecraft, point being construction shouldn't be a problem. I actually bought one of the homes I framed several years later. They are built well with minimal upgrades. The high ceilings are probably the best thing they do. Overall not a bad home.

I am about to move out of mine (build 2012) and can say that aesthetics are great. However, I have had issues with the A/C (not big enough for the home), dryer vent (the dryer vent took a 45* angle out the roof and was ~13', which lead to condensation issues during the winter) and dry wall tape coming off (they did not bed the sheet rock properly).
I lived in a Stylecraft house for 5 years, and have three good friends who live in them today (oldest built in the mid 90's newest built in 2010). I can tell you the common thread with all of those houses, is an undersized A/C and or insufficient insulation. If you would like to live in a house that cant cool below 80 degrees in the summer time then Stylcraft is the builder for you. I can tell you personally in my old home that if you crawled around in the attic the areas hard to get to didn't have much and some times any insulation blown in. Also I had issue with flashing on my chimney, had to have rotten wood replaced because water would flow behind hardi board when it rained. Speaking to friends who are contractors it seems like the issue is they use the lowest bidder for EVERYTHING they do.
