It was embarrassing at the women's basketball game last night to see the Houston Christian Women's Basketball team standing on the court respecting the playing of the National Anthem and the Aggie team I assume in the locker room. I was willing to give the coach the benefit of the doubt last year when this happened but not anymore. Apparently others feel the same way as attendance by the "gray hairs" appear to be way down. Come on coach , show some huevos!

attendance is down because the program is down
both MBB and WBB have done this since covid and BLM days. Many other SEC teams do it too.
I'd rather they do this than have any of them kneeling down.
In the end they are there to play ball and win games. I don't care about pregame stuff. Just win

Don't support them, our girls don't need you if you're too much of a baby to support them and stay away from this board if you feel this way!

As others have stated the team being in the locker room began in 2020. Personally I'm fine with it. In the 2020-2021 season, SC played here (we BEAT THEM to win the SEC regular season) and I think 1/2 of the SC team kneeled. Not a fan of the kneeling

I would rather they stay in the locker room, than kneel during the national anthem. Leave it as it is.

I didn't realize those were the only two options. I guess the 3rd would be making it clear during the recruiting process that the values of Texas A&M support attending AND standing for the national anthem.
But oh, we might upset some big time recruit. When your values are for sale, you're already lost. And some wonder why this culture is where it is today...

This is a discussion and argument about nothing and I am certainly not a fan of kneeling for our nation's anthem. Our pregame basketball presentation takes all of this out of play.
I have watched in women's soccer for several years as multiple players from our team and our opponent kneeled for the anthem. I didn't see a single player kneel in soccer this year for either team, even players who kneeled in year's past. So, good news all those problems the kneeling was protesting have been solved. Kneeling is not a thing currently. Hooray!

So then why does MBB and football team get a pass? Neither are out for the National Anthem. Again, unless it's a mandatory policy from the AD, then I don't see how we can pick and choose who to get mad at for not being out for the National Anthem.Divining Rod said:Quote:

I definitely love those that stand for the anthem and support the country. How do we know they aren't doing that in the locker room while it's being played? Regardless, Coach Taylor might be protecting individual players from being singled out and criticized, which I also respect.

To illustrate a flag/not standing issue and respond if you want to I sub teach at a 6A level metro Houston high school. Besides the class I am in today, I can pin point three rooms total that don't have an American or Texas flag in their rooms on this campus. Why is that? When I asked one of the teachers about that, her response was that "this is a Spanish language class and a large % of the kids are Hispanic. Most of the kids are not comfortable flying an American flag in this classroom."
Think about that. At least unlike other places you won't get shot for not flying it.
