I'm not puffing my chest. I think I'm being objective about the season so far and what has happened over the last 8-10 years. There is a reason GB was only offered a one year extension. I think playing at A&M is a hard sell right now to elite athletes if they are also offered SC, UConn, LSU, Baylor, Tennessee, Stanford, etc. What realistic reason would an elite player choose us over those programs at this point?

No one wants to see a coach fail at A&M. We would love for every sport to compete nationally. He isn't puffing his chest, this is simply coming to reality.

With Vic on staff, we finished with a top 5 class consistently. We haven't cracked the top 20 in YEARS. The 2022 class we just signed did, but I think they are highly overrated. Hope I am wrong. A&M doesn't have the same womens basketball pull as it did. We need a big name or get lucky like Tennessee did

The reality is fussing at the team or the coaches here is meaningless. That's the only reality that matters.

Thank you for scolding me grandpa Greg. I'll be sure not to fuss at anybody anymore.

Recruiting has been harder than it might have been. That is just a natural result of having a head coach who entered his 70s in the 2015-16 season. That was 6 years ago. You constantly face the challenge on the recruiting trail of almost every other program telling the recruits that head coach isn't going to be your coach your entire 4 years, so why go into that uncertainty.

Now, we have combatted that by being honest and going back and picking up a lot of outstanding transfers that we lost out on the 1st time around.

Confused. What is your point? We cannot win due to lack of talent then why is there a lack of talent?

Further, i have been watching Aggie sports for 65 years. All sports. Even the first women's games.

I expect all coaches to do their job and compete at the highest level. Manage, coach, recruit, etc. That is their duty. When they cannot perform effectively then they should hang it up and/or the administration then needs to take action. That is business and athletics at TAMU is big business.

I agree with you so I'm not sure why you're confused. But it's clear that A&M is not going to fire GB in the middle of a season, nor do I think they should. He will finish out the season. We will applaud his career and wish him well; he will become an incredible analyst and ambassador, and we will hopefully spend some money on a great coach that will build us back to our 2009- 2012 expectations.

Agreed! We are a multibillion dollar organization. Either Blair gets the season back on track or let him take the back seat and collect his gifts. If this was a corporation, they wouldn't hesitate

I really doubt the coaches or the girls get this feedback, so fuss away

I noticed Chennedy didn't share anything about A&M all of last year during our great season or when any of the girls got drafted, nothing about Blair retiring, and she doesn't even follow the team on social media lol, but has only made this comment... I might be looking to much into it, but makes you wonder lol! Hope I'm wrong

Carter was a special character. For as much as she gave A&M, she also hurt A&M. She was a star that required the entire limelight. Due to her inability to share that, it hurt the progression of the program. We got lucky with Ciera, Ndea, and Wells playing along side her

Shee was a transformative talent. You have zero evidence of the damage she supposedly did.

She did in later seasons move without the ball in order to create separation and get all of them multiple opportunities. For the most part even with extra passes and touches tge didn't score and Chennedy did nothing to stop them.

It's a shame the tournament was cancelled her last year. She might have shut up the anti-Blair crowd from their braying with an NC like Danielle did. She owes us nothing.

The evidence is on the court sir. She would take away shots from open teammates to get her own shot. While it was extremely exciting to watch, it does not create a culture to better your teammates. She was absolutely amazing, but you live and die by her shooting.

She is a generational talent, I agree. If you have ever coached though, then you would know that sharing the ball is imperative to national championships. Volleyball for example with Hollann Hanns. She brought us to a great sweet 16. She was unselfish. We lost to Wisconsin that year, who was able to consistently share the ball. You can easily hone in on one player on the court. Carter, instead of passing for open teammates she would take risky shots…

When passed to them they missed. Consistently. Which put pressure on Chennedy. She hated losing and you could see that. Her teammates weren't as visibly motivated and frankly depended on her.

Gary put the ball in her hands on purpose.

Understood, but that doesn't develop players. She had Ndea and Cierra. While they aren't world beaters, they were talented. Carter had some talent around her, so I think that is a false statement. They just needed the opportunity to blossom into their own

Cierra never lived up to the hype. Stone hands.

He led the team to two S16s on her own in a row and likely a third. They wouldn't have sniffed them he NCAAT without her. You just don't know what great looks like. Gary does. 2011 was the same thing.

I want to repeat what I said earlier. Gary took the ball out of her hands and had her just move with the other four responsible for all scoring on about 33% of plays the last half of her last year. They could not score.

I do agree that Carter was probably one of the most gifted players I've ever witnessed at A&M. Was she transformative? Idk. In my mind, a transformative player helps transform a program. I'm not sure she did that for us. Definitely debatable. Would our run in the NCAAs have been different her senior year? Perhaps. We will never know. Anyway - on to the next! Gig'em!
