It will be interesting to see if the committee keeps us as 1 seed. It's hard to imagine we won't be with only 2 losses....HOWEVER, you have the shoe-in 1 seeds of UConn and Stanford....that leaves Texas A&M, South Carolina, Baylor, Louisville.....Baylor will more than likely win the Big12 regular season AND the Big12 tournament. How do you leave them out of a #1 seed with only 2 losses? Georgia really took it to us on Saturday, but I would love a rematch in the tournament. We typically do well in revenge match ups

Charlie Creme is Stanford as the overall #1, UConn #2, Texas A&M #3, and South Carolina #4...let's see if that holds. If it does, we will be in UConn's final four bracket I'm assuming, which honestly doesn't bother me. Have to beat the best at some point anyway to win it all. Let's get there first!

I agree with all of this. I am more concerned with us. It's nice to get the programs first ever 1 seed if it happens. However, we looked all out of sorts on Saturday. Georgia played well; shot well; we just didn't have any answers. Same thing happened in our loss vs LSU. Had chances to put the game away and it didn't happen. Sometimes games just get away from you. I was surprised at how ineffective Ciera was. And we had so so so many untimely turnovers. Just hope it doesn't happen again.

If we are the 3rd #1 seed, who do we anticipate to be the 2 seed in our bracket? It would be the #6 team I would assume? Looks like that would put us with Baylor or Maryland

Their bigs were the real thing and playing for their legacy against the #2 ranked team in the nation. They deserve credit for bringing it.

Very very true. When you're one of the best teams, you get everyone's best every single night.

OP keep in mind that we are now 10 or 11 and 1 against top 25 opponents. Baylor can't touch that and the Big 12 competition is crap compared to SEC. We richly deserve a 1 seed regardless of semi- final loss in tourney. Heck it has only been a few days since we beat #5 S Carolina!
As to the GA loss, they deserve a lot of credit for paying well but they had a fire hachet out on defense the entire game and dared the refs to call it. Unfortunately they only called around 1 of 3. Many of the so called blocks were big time hacks with no ball. I think more than anything we were just mentally if not physically tired. SEC is one heck of a grind and our ladies handled it great. Lets figure out how to avoid slow starts before the Big Dance and go take this thing!

Yeah those are all good points. Does anyone know how accurate Charlie Creme's predictions usually are? I wonder if the committee pays any attention to his research or predictions?

I don't know on Creme. He and and Lunardi have being beatified by ESPN as know it alls.

I would add: a 2/3 seed is in the opposite bracket of the 1/4 seeds and generally is significantly more favorable than the 4 in terms of win-loss in the men's tournament. 5s of course lose to Cinderellas in the men's tournament far more often than the women's.

I think we would do well at any of the 1-3 seeds, but prefer the second or third 1. And I believe we earned it. I wish we played at least two top ten teams every year out of conference. But this is the best overall team and deepest we have seen in Blair's tenure as far as regular season dominance. Blair really found a way to put all the players into an effective rotation that matched up well with everyone but Georgia.

One thing that caused was even more coaching decisions during games on subbing and on how to deny opponents scoring. In the past because he stayed with a short, tight rotation he didn't seem to sub as much just for matchups only to deal with creeping foul trouble. But this year he aggressively put Morris or Green in for Nixon to thwart opposing guard quickness especially on steals. Happened repeatedly even though Jordan was clearly the more confident at the 1. Gary even had projected she would play more 2.

I meant any of a 1 seed, 2 seed, or high 3 seed. The 1 is preferred because the opponents for reaching the regional final are 16 and 8/9 then best of 4/5/12/13.

For the two: 15, 7/10, best of 3/6/11/14
For the three 14, 6/11, best of 2/7/10/15

The S curve is punishingly steep at the tails from a talent stand point and mushier in the middle. But in reality not playing the 1 until the regional final is strongly preferred. Unless you can BE THE 1!!!

Creme's update this week has us opposite WVU as the 4, with Maryland as the 2 and UCLA as the 3 in the Riverwalk regional. I'll note with the entire tournament in San Antonio it becomes possible to use pure seeding past the 16 round of 64/32 "hosts" for the first time without worrying about travel cost impacts. What will be very interesting is how the venues play out as separate bubbles in the event of detected covid-19 positive tests.

I'm watching this B12 tournament with some interest. Baylor looks very comfortable. It's hard to imagine a regular conference and b12 tournament champion with only 2 losses not getting the nod for a 1 seed. At the end of the day does that top line come down to wins and losses or does it come down to who you've played?

It's who they pick. But the selection committee has provided peeks into the top 16 a couple of times as a matter of transparency. So we have a general idea where they stand.

Both men's and women's selection committees are trying to balance TV and ticket draw in early round matchups, but in theory that should not be affecting the pure seeding they are supposed to do with the top 16 who normally would be first two round hosts.

But my feeling is that there remains a lot of subjectivity in the process. And generally when you see the top 16 move forward to the S16 that means they got the subjectivity correct.

I have a feeling one of the SEC teams won't be a 1 seed. Hope I'm wrong!! Is the watch party going to be streamed live? Anyone know?

I'm not saying you are wrong. One of the brackets has Baylor as the #2 seed in the #1 UConn bracket, which wouldn't make sense if Baylor is the highest #2 seed. Just seeing how Baylor trounced everyone they played in the tournament may have turned some heads. They have 2 losses. Apparently one of their losses came when one of their main players was out. We will see! I think we are in for a few surprises.

We should not have lost to Georgia.

The only question is whether the committee was looking to validate the 1 seeds they projected for Carolina and us. Creme first said we didn't need to win the tournament then said we needed to make the final. Blair wanted his team to play hard in the tournament so he suggested we should win and needed to make the final and play hard. I think he wanted to beat Carolina to avoid a rematch...before the national championship that is!!!

I think it can be used against us in which #1 seed we get (assuming we get one). If we had won the tournament I believe we had a potential claim to the overall #1 seed in the NCAA tournament as a 1 loss SEC regular season and SEC tournament team. And when you start considering that they are now using a true ranking scale 1 through 68, as the #1 or #2 overall 1 seeds you have an easier path with lower ranked teams in your quarter. HOWEVER, I think the rankings are a bit subjective after the top 15-20 teams. Also, the overall #1 see would play the lowest ranked #2 seed in the elite 8, the lowest ranked 4 seed in the sweet 16 and so on. In that sense it would make a difference.

At the end of the day, you need a lot of luck and a lot of talent to win this tournament no matter what your draw is. I hope we put our blinders on and only focus on the team in front of us at the time.

Very true. I think a lot of this is Creme speculation, which is what makes me a bit nervous. I do believe we are deserving of a #1 seed. I just hope the committee believes that as well.

There is no downside tonight. We are 1 or a 2 seed. After the first round, every team we play could beat us. Starting in round 2, we will be playing a team rated somewhere between 17 and 32. So at worst a borderline top 25 team.

But on the other hand and the beauty of it all is that there is no team we can't beat this year all the way to the national championship.
