Aggies Sign Three in 2019 Class

By:Texas A&M Athletics Communications

COLLEGE STATION The No. 5 Texas A&M women's basketball program and head coach Coach Blair have announced the signing of three student-athletes to National Letters of Intent this week. Kay Kay Green, Maliyah Johnson and Kenyal Perry make up the early 2019 signing class.

Kay Kay Green Guard | 5-6 | Chicago, Illinois
Green enters her senior season at Whitney Young High School having already surpassed the 1,000 career points mark last season. She averaged 18.2 points, 3.4 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game, serving as team captain during her junior year. Green is a five-star recruit and is rated as the No. 49 point guard in the country according to ESPN. She was named to the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Class 4A first team last season.

Coach Blair on Kay Kay Green: "Kay Kay is another prototype point guard for us who knows how to run a high-level Division-I offense. Her experience at two national powerhouses, Whitney Young High School and Mac Irvin Fire AAU teams have proven she is ready to compete in the point guard role at the SEC level. Kay Kay can score, distribute and create."

Maliyah Johnson Forward | 6-2 | Houston, Texas
Johnson is a three-time All-District first teamer out of Summer Creek High School. She averaged 14 points, seven boards and 2.8 assists per game as a junior. She was named the Houston Chronicle, Vype and District Offensive Player of the Year after an impressive junior outing. Johnson helped her team to a 6A Region II title last season, advancing to the 6A state semifinals.

Coach Blair on Maliyah Johnson: "Maliyah will bring versatility, length, athleticism and the ability to play three positions while guarding any position for Texas A&M. Maliyah's game has continued to grow from her strong work ethic and desire to be one of the best in the SEC and state of Texas. She has played for championships at Summer Creek High School as well as Cy-Fair AAU, which have all prepared her for major Division-I basketball. I am most excited about her ability to run the floor and attack the glass early in her career and watch her grow into an impact player in the SEC."

Kenyal Perry Post | 6-6 | Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Perry looks to make an impact in her senior season at McKinley High School after missing the 2018-19 season due to an ACL injury. A strong defender, Perry will bring aggressive shot blocking and kick start fastbreak opportunities for the Aggies. ESPN rates her as a three-star recruit that is on the rise in her final high school season.

Coach Blair on Kenyal Perry: "Kenyal's best basketball is in front of her. She has length, size and athleticism, and most importantly a willingness to learn the game. She will have a great opportunity her senior year at McKinley to play for a WNBA and All-American player in Temeka Johnson, who will have her prepared for the physical and mental game of women's college basketball. We are excited to have her be a part of the Aggie family and eager to begin helping her grow into a dominant post at Texas A&M."
