Howdy from Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis! I flew in this morning with about 30-plus Aggies on 6:20 a.m. Southwest Airlines flight out of Love Field! There was more than one "Whoop!" on the first flight ... a good time was had by all.
I'm sitting here on press row right now watching Gary Blair talking to the entire group of fans here at the arena watching practice ... the "A-B-Es" of coaching: Always Be Entertaining.
This is not just some easy shootaround and halfcourt shootout contest in front of the fans. This group is flat getting after it during this practice. Lots and lots and lots of skill instruction.
I just did a special "Sights & Sounds" video of the first part of the practice. Be looking out for that coming up later this afternoon ... it should turn out pretty good.
As I'm typing this, Gary Blair just climbed on the ladder and busted out the tape measure a la Gene Hackman in "Hoosiers" ... in an inspirational message to his team. Pretty neat stuff.
I want to thank TexAgs subscriber "Palmarez" and his lovely wife for a great conversation on the plane from Kansas City to Indianapolis! Great visiting with you guys!
The Aggies just walked off the court and the USA wheelchair basketball team is now on the floor for an exhibition and demonstration. Good bull right there! They're pretty phenomenal with the ball.
Interesting note: The great Becky Gates -- wife of former A&M President and current U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates -- will be at the game tomorrow evening ... watching her Aggies taking on Condoleezza Rice's Stanford Cardinal.
Finally ... I'll say this: This Texas A&M team thinks that they can win the national title. You can see it in their eyes. They just had a great public practice and are now headed to Marion College for another workout. A&M may be undersized at every position against Stanford, but if this group has taught us anything, it's that you can throw out the "stats" and stuff like size, length and height. The Aggies are playing at a high, high level and are just two wins away from winning the national championship and they can smell victory!
I'll have more coming up in a bit.
