Howdy Ags,
I'm a current Texas A&M Economics student graduating in May 2028, and I'm looking for a Summer 2027 internship in or around the energy industry. My primary interests are energy trading, commodities, commercial operations, risk, supply/trading, and finance, ideally in Houston.
I've been applying through the normal recruiting channels, but I also wanted to tap into the Aggie network and learn from people who actually work in the industry. I'm especially interested in hearing about companies, smaller firms, internship programs, or career paths that may not be as obvious through the major job boards.
My background is somewhat entrepreneurial. I've built several small businesses and online ventures involving pricing, customer acquisition, supplier coordination, capital allocation, and data-driven decision making.
Academically, I'm studying economics and currently taking courses including Money & Banking, Macroeconomic Theory, and International Trade Theory & Policy. I'm also working on improving my Excel and commodity-market analysis skills.
I'm not expecting anyone to hand me an internship. I'd mainly appreciate any advice on where to look, companies worth targeting, skills I should develop, or Aggies in the industry who might be willing to share their experience. If anyone knows of a team or company recruiting interns where my background might be a fit, I'd be grateful to hear about it.
Here is my email and linkedin if you'd like to reach out!
