Are there any construction attorneys here?

I am trying to ascertain who I need to speak to about approving or writing GC style contracts. I need all the legalese stuff, terms, conditions, payments, default, ett, etc. I have no shortage of contracts from which to copy such things, but that is not legal to do per my understanding so I need a guy. How much would such a service cost?

Consider just buying some from AGC or ABC?

Just got done with a stud up renovation and our GC used the GHBA standard template. It was certainly favorable to the GC and not customer friendly. It was also painfully long / comprehensive.

That said, my GC was very flexible / easy to work with. I did spend one hour with Robert Lovein (Attorney / Grapevine, TX) and he was reasonable, practical and offered great advice / next steps as part of the review.

I would maybe consult with Robert and get direction from him - he may have a template you could use for your specific scenario.

i would use AI. Load contracts you seen before and then pull from the organizations listed above and then think about issues you experienced.

I'm a Ga attorney, so sorry no recommendations in Tx.

You might be able to use AI and get away with it. I handle litigation for my firm. I have three transactional law partners. They pass me cases where the client did NOT hire them on the front end to draft/review a contract or there was no contract. It cost them waaay more than if they had a good contract in place to start with. Do this at your peril. You've heard this before: penny-wise, but pound-foolish. I usually have several construction cases going at any time.

I say this about medicine. I do not want to rely on AI for medical advice. I do, however, want a doctor that uses AI. Your lawyer is likely using AI now. We can pump out these contracts in record time.

Thank you for the suggestions. I am kind of a stickler for doing things correctly to protect, not only myself, but customers, and making sure things are transparent and boundaries are set. I could scribble things out on a Word template, but I am looking for more than that. I'll give the suggestions a shot!

we use AIA contracts.. no need to reinvent the wheel.

By 'we' I mean a 50+ year old general contractor in Colorado that does $150mm+ a year

As someone who uses AI all day and part of our AI team of a 300M contractor and eliminating so much wasteful work, I don't say use AI lightly, but no offense to many people protecting their jobs, it isn't hard to replace you if you aren't offering anything special.

Also I have AI trading for me and has won 4/5 days and the day it lost, it told me not to trade!.

My (legal) AI would kick your AI's arse in a fight.

Mine is sandboxed to valid legal sources (another AI connected via MCP to Claude), has our forms it's trained on, is a paid version and gets reviewed by me. I read (or know) each case and statutory cite. Also if you don't know what you are doing, your AI is not subject to atty client privilege.

In our state, AI doesn't have access to the latest version of the O.C.G.A. (Ga law). It's behind a CAPTCHA. (B.S. if you ask me - one of 4 states). Mostly good law out there in the interwebs if that's good enough for ya.

$300M and you are going to cheap out on a 1-2 hour atty fee? Love you guys. I'm $450 an hour for litigation. Taking a case to a bench trial will be a minimum of $20k ballpark, more like $50k.

Another six months, year and this may all be moot for all of us. It's getting really good. Pay the money for now.

Same. We use the AIA documents everywhere unless the client has their own.

We have attorneys. He is a small guy Doug T&Cs. I just referenced pulling associations he is part of and others to get a baseline. I talked to large GC who their small subs are more educated with their T&Cs and redlines. Multibillion dollar companies are going against more intelligent small subs. It helps them.
