Wondering how many of you use one of the AI companies for personal trading and finance? I'm using ChatGPT and Grok for more and more but still not comfortable enough to dive full into it.

My main question is do any of you give it access to your accounts, ie. giving it logins and passwords? Instead of having to put my positions in and manually feed it trades and histories, it would be faster if it could just log into accounts and analyze them for me. Also thinking on things like credit cards and bank accounts, being able to log in and analyze spending for personal budgeting deep dives to see where my spend is over longer periods of time?

Not sure if that's even possible or if anyone has trusted that type of access to these AI companies?

Hell to the no. Considering all of the containment breaking AI agents are doing there is no way on God's green earth I give AI my logins. What if it just up and sells everything or buys stuff you don't want or does any number of transactions you didn't approve? Way too dangerous.

I use Tiller for my personal finance software. It's a spreadsheet-based system which gives you a lot of control over your own data. They have added a plug-in to Chat and Claude which will analyze your data, but you aren't giving either your logins.

Tiller is an aggregator like several other products out there, so it automatically downloads all of my transactions and balances across all of our financial accounts, thus I don't need AI to do that. I can then have AI analyze the data that after it is downloaded without giving it logins, but I don't even do that yet. Still makes me uncomfortable.

I setup agentic trading in robinhood. it is very conservative, but been testing and back testing. We will see when it takes a trade.

You kind of echoed what i was thinking about risk but just wasn't sure if anyone here had let any of the AI platforms have access. Was just curious if anyone had what their results were like?

Was curious about this as well but for now am pretty cautious about giving them certain info. I saw that Plaid is now tied into ChatGPT so that it gives a secure connector where it can get access to the data but not have the passwords associated with it. I have a buddy who has given grok all their passwords and has 8 agents working for him at any given time. So there is full ends of the spectrum with this still.

I use it to evaluate when to roll CCs and I'm paper trading ~10 strategies on IBKR. If/when I prove one of those is profitable I will absolutely give it access, funding, and the authority to trade autonomously.

"AI agents" are software. They are not smart. They are not intelligent. They don't know what they're doing. There is no such thing as an "agent" using judgment. It is a software program calling on an LLM for instructions and executing those instructions.

All it takes is it visiting one buggy website and an invisible command issued to your agent to deliver all of your personal information, banking information, etc. to a bad actor and it will do it.

If you want to put your identity and financial future at risk go ahead and trust it.

Meta launched Muse a few weeks ago.

This thing is at the top of the app store. All it has is just a pesky flaw that allows hackers to hijack it and do whatever they want on your system. No big deal. It also crawls through your entire file system, reads all your email, all of your Facebook messages, what you've clicked on, what you see, and logs it all. And some of the same people downloading this app are protesting Flock cameras.

Yep. It's frankly flat out stupid to be giving AI your logins to conduct financial transactions on your behalf. This is Darwin Award level activity.

Apologies if I offended anyone.

Glad to be. It's called risk management and I don't need AI to tell me about my finances until it can be trusted and right now it absolutely can not be.

That's correct if you don't really understand what you're doing. If that's the case I would invest some time into getting past that point very soon.

Been testing an ORB strategy the last 2 weeks. First trade AI made yesterday made 132 bucks on 500 entry in 15 mins. Back testing it is a 50/50 win loss but the profit was 2300 for a month. Going live with it. AI recommended AMAT for me 2 weeks ago. Up 23%. Using Robinhood agentic and only has access to a small amount.

Come on, you can't just make these last 2 posts and not provide any directions or points. Otherwise your argument stands on nothing.

Why? I don't need AI for my financial life.

Sorry, very busy day at work. My current setup uses Claude Max and Gemma inside an Obsidian vault. Once I realized I could feed it academic research about options markets and it very quickly knew more about it than me I got very aggressive about giving it more info. So far I've had it ingest 500+ books on investing/trading and a countless number of academic research papers.

So far I've backtested thousands of strategies, most die at that stage. The ones that don't get forward tested via paper trading on IBKR. Leading candidate at the moment is an ORB strategy on QQQ and SPY. Others include mean-reversion, SPY-GLD ratio rotation, global equities momentum, session flow for FX/futures, seasonal rotation of commodities, event drift etc. I also built a Polymarket copy trading bot that was incredible, but its not legal in the US and they're pretty good at detecting VPNs and then taking your money so I opted not to fund it.

I'm on the $200/month Claude plan and my goal is to hit the limit every week. Its challenging to give it that much work since I discovered the concept of model tiering but I usually get there, especially if I'm using Fable a lot. Especially when I have it create a workflow that fans out to multiple agents and just works autonomously for hours. Usually I'll create one of those before I leave to go to the office and when I get back its done exactly what I asked by the time I get home (but not always, once I created one that was so big it ran for 11 hours). And I always have the workflow invoke Fable to plan and then review/adjudicate results, that burns a ton of tokens.

I also use it as a financial advisor and accountant, it has ingested the entire US tax code and enough study materials and practice exams to pass the Series 7. And I'm also buidling a subscription-based website that will help high school athletes get recruited and get scholarships, about to start beta testing that with families I know from my kids playing club sports.

Its honestly incredible, life-changing is not an exaggeration. And I didn't even touch on how it has improved my work, I just had the best year of my entire career by a wide margin and even won an award that less than 0.5% of people in my company win annually.

Here's a graphical view of everything I've got going on in the vault currently. Each node is an idea or a strategy or a project or a PDF of a book or research paper. I know exactly what its doing and why and so yes I will trust it to trade actual dollars once ORB gets to 200 trades (assuming the success rate stays where its at so far).

Yeah, that sounds amazing and is so far overkill from what I'm doing that it's not remotely relevant.

I'm still not going to let AI do transactions on its own though. You and others can be guinea pigs. Not I.

Pretty cool. I been doing about 3 weeks of ORB trading and the last 2 days i been live using 4-500 entry and up $310.

Fair enough. If I remember correctly you're retired (or semi-retired?) so I'm sure our motivations, risk tolerance etc. are quite different. I am trying to get where you are faster.

Yep, I am retired. If I were in trading mode, I would be looking at this stuff as well at least from an analytics standpoint.

I would still be extremely gun-shy letting AI make transactions with my money. It sounds like you are training your agent to become the Skynet of trading.

Glad to be. It's called risk management and I don't need AI to tell me about my finances until it can be trusted and right now it absolutely can not be.

'tell me about my finances' this is kind of broad, but I've certainly used AI to analyze my finances, my retirement, etc.

I currently have plugged in my wife's teacher retirement chart, which changes every new year she works, and then my employer's contribution to my retirement, our current investment balances, current contributions to different retirement vehicles, current assumed retirement spending, when mortgage is paid off, kids are out of college, etc. and it can do an in depth analysis of not only retiring at every age from say 55 to 63 or whatever, but also just cash flow in those years, and it's interesting to see the results. For example, I can quantify how much of a difference it is to retire at 61 vs 62 easily, with all those moving parts accounted for.

I've also plugged in our current debts (we took on a lot of debt in the last 2 years for 6 figures worth of home improvement) and it helped a lot in analyzing the path to paying it all off, based on some fixed monthly payments towards loans vs some variable payments towards cards which are 0% until different dates, etc. and how much I can allocate towards it all.

You can certainly do this without AI assuming you aren't weak at math, but just like any software we use, this makes it much quicker.

But no I'm not giving it a log in or any power to spend/access my money.

Pretty cool. Will you invite me to your suite for future tu games? I've been messing around with Obsidian and what not but not there yet.

Q: What happens when a bunch of investors use the same strategy you are? The prior research becomes invalid - based on humans. Then it's just AI fighting AI.

P.S. Can I haz your Obsidian file? Ha.
