We company is looking to expand into Brazil. We need to understand all the taxes and tariffs we will need to pay to import materials.

If anyone has a contact I woud greatly appreaciate it.

I have some friends that do a lot of "business" in Brazil. I don't think tariffs are involved though.

The CIA publishes country briefs on its website. The one for Brazil may have that info.

The State Dept may as well. You can reach out to a US Embassy in Brazil. They will have loads of info.

I use the term "tariffs" losely. A lot of the so called tariffs are cartel enforced. It is a strange business climate over there.

Understand more than tariffs and taxes.

Brazil's regulatory environment, labor laws and poor infrastructure make it a notoriously difficult place to transact in.

Regulatory issues will be a larger headache than tariffs and taxes. They're kind of asses with that stuff. Even if you do everything right, you may have forgotten to grease the appropriate palm, and they'll send you to the back of the line to wait another 12-24 months.
