China buying like they want to back the yuan with gold. Then they're banning paper gold from its citizens starting tomorrow

Short term with less paper gold demand the price goes down?

Then gold eventually gets repriced to physical gold without games being played with multiple paper gold backing the same bar?

Whats the future look like. I may start buying pretty soon

Good idea, bad idea?

I'm not sure keeping retail traders from trading the paper PM market will move the price much one way or another. Having some physical precious metals on-hand is always nice though. Buy it and throw it in a safe, then hope you never have to use it.

I started buying with my first lot purchase. I wanted gold under 4K today is close enough

I'm hoping it comes down to $3500, possibly lower but I'm just gonna DCA as/if it comes down

For me this is a long term play like bitcoin and don't plan to sell for decades

Serious question - Why would someone invest in Golf vs. say QQQ index fund? Longer term it looks like index funds can be the clear winner... Is gold less volatile? More possible upside? Recession proof? I don't know the answer so just curious what the experts think. Thanks

Depends on if you think history will hold form. Gold can't touch stocks over the long haul. It's a good hedge during periods of high inflation (>6-7%).

The difference now is our debt and utter lack of caring to address it, so with that in mind there is a good chance we see more periods of high inflation going forward.

We have a new normal of 3-4% (getting back to 2% is fantasy IMO), so how does that translate into what's considered high going forward if that's the new normal? I don't know.

I'm allocating about 6% to the debasement trade, gold and bitcoin, cypto in general. I guess its a lot more than that if you count the mortgage. The Rs and Ds are going to spend till it breaks

The other 94% is in index funds.
