I'm looking at taking a bond position for long term. Looks like we have 9 trillion to refinance this year. I can't find anywhere indicating when the bulk of it is due to be refinanced. Looking to to time my purchase when it's due. Anyone know a source for such information?

Your best bet is probably the Treasury auction schedule.

This probably matters less than you think because a majority of that money from the matured bonds will likely be piled back into bonds.

Not sure what you're asking exactly. But as an example anybody who has cash in a money market fund or any corporation holding tbills as cash equivalent will just automatically buy new bonds.

I understand. Looking at some 10 year bonds which have a little higher rate. Was thinking if I times my buying when a large refinancing event was happening the rates on my purchase would be higher than they are today if I went ahead and bought today.

If I plan to hold the bond to maturity the yield is my effective passive income rate correct?
