Costco quality is much much better. They don't sell junk. I buy my everyday house wear from Costco and the quality is very good. Cheap too. My wife gets organic stuff and I buy organic chicken from there.

We have both Costco and Sam's memberships. The difference I find the most glaring is that Sam's is much more junk food oriented. I believe it's like the WalMart of these types of stores.

It better be since it LITERALLY is WalMart.

I borrowed a friend's sam's club membership card awhile back just to check it out and that was the thing I most noticed. Most of the food they have are the same brands you see in your basic grocery store or walmart but just in larger or doubled up portions. Costco seems to feature brands I normally never heard of or thier in-house kirkland brand but everything seems to be high quality. But they do carry some mainstream brand stuff too if you want junk food.

Sam's was originally designed as a wholesale club where individuals could load up on stuff cheap for reselling. You still see this. The other day before a high school basketball game my wife noticed a school employee pull up to the gym loaded down with Sam's merchandise for resale in the snack bar.
Trump will fix it.

That's an interesting observation. We never used Sam's for day to day except meat. For us it was bulk purchases of things we use daily but HEB was still our grocery store. Starting to sound like Costco has some real differences in what they sell and quality. That's good to know.

This thread has been better than I expected. Glad I brought it up!

Sam's is not THAT much farther than Costco in CStat.

Nothing is really THAT far here, true, but Costco to Sam's is almost the exact same as Sam's to Hwy 21. That time/distance adds up when you double it for going/coming. I live 1-2 miles from both H-E-B and Costco, so I only go to Sam's like 2x a year now.

I have a costco and sams membership. I'm going to drop Costco and stick with Sam's for the scan and go app. I absolutely hate going into costco and fighting the crowds and lines - and I'll drive past it to go to Sam's just for scan and go

If we don't find uses for Costco beyond things we can get at Sam's I suspect we will too. The shopping experience at Costco is worse because of the requirement to go through a checkout line which is where this thread really started. Both stores are crowded but Costco hasn't done anything to make that easier while Sam's has.

Both have advantages and disadvantages.

Sam's has some items that I like that Costco doesn't. I like the ease of quickly finding which items are in stock at my local Sam's. I like the curbside pickup at Sam's which is not offered by my local Costco.

Costco has an unbelievable return policy. It's probably the best place of all to buy a mattress. You can return it, even months later, if you don't like it, no questions asked. Costco will even send a team out to pick it up for you.
