I keep seeing reports on the cost of AI, how much power it costs to generate an image...etc

How will that be paid for? I assume the end user who decides to write a short novel and turn it into an AI movie or ask AI questions all day has to ultimately pay for it, right? It can't be free to.the end user powered by ads can it?

Who pays the electricity bill + profit when AI is fully operational

It's easy. Keep it free while it's new and growing. Everyone gets to play with it, and eventually become dependent on it. Then you start charging in a subscription model based on some metric that ties back to energy consumption.

By that point you hopefully have enough people that rely on it to make up a solid client base.

If its as expensive as people say, to the point of opening up old nuclear plants and making modular nuclear devices, that's a lot of money

The AI user is the product being sold.

I thought this was obvious. All your data is being transferred to those expensive servers and sold to the high bidder.

If you achieved real AI why would you let anyone else use it? What makes anyone think real AI is going to be used by the public? This is end game level world dominance, why would someone sell out with it?

The biggest contenders for winning the AI race are Musk, the Chinese Govt, microsoft, google, and a couple others. Do any of those seem the type to let others play with their ultimate toy?

If you get real AI you spend the first five years telling it to reprogram and reengineer itself. By that time it is maybe a million times smarter than any human or computer on the planet. Give it a million bucks in the market and have it turn it into a trillion in a month or two. Or just take all of the money... who could stop it? Have it make certain foolproof death for any of your competitors. And once it reaches god level power, who cares anymore?

Given the history of the human race, why would you expect someone to market it and not just take everything? Humans have been playing the simulation for 25 mm years and the game ends in another 10. Pretty sure the winner, whoever that may be, isn't going to all of a sudden "share."

I imagine there will be a lot of AI winners in various fields and no doubt some the public won't have access to but kept within the companies using them for medical, military or whatever other type of advancement
