For those with small to medium sized businesses, you may want to take a look at your UPS accounts.
We have multiple accounts, one for each branch.

Last week a rather large charge was on our account.

The bill is usually in a range so it threw up a red flag. This one comes across my desk and I do some digging. Turns out it was not ours. Talking with the fraud dept at UPS it seems this is rampant. My payable dept has just been paying the bills if they were in a normal range. We should have been on top of validating shipments but over time it just slipped the cracks which is my fault.

The more I dig the more I find. We have been paying for shipments that were not ours for who knows how long. There are also hidden charges everywhere. They are nickel and diming me to death.

I have now been monitoring the UPS accounts and for the last 2 weekly billing cycles I have found fraudulent charges. Just a PSA to take a look and you might find some hidden savings.

I think our company had issues as well. The larger the company the easier things like this slip through the cracks.

UPS and FedEx have increased their rates to the point that it's becoming unsustainable for many small to medium players to use them. UPS has been pretty public about killing accounts (even large, long-term accounts) and focusing on yield.
