Know what else happens all the time? Insurance companies weaseling their way out of paying out a legitimate claim.

For something you've already paid for, by law.

Just a positive note about Geico.

My son was hit by a Geico insured person. Geico took care of us and worked with us during the entire process. Valued vehicle more than I expected, agreed to tow the vehicle ~100 miles (I did forgo rent car), paid multiple supplementals. Pretty much zero complaints about the entire situation. I'm tempted to switch or at least look at them next renewal...

What's the rates today compared to 4-5 years ago. Our rates (State Farm) dropped significantly during COVID. We have had a big jump this year but pretty comparable to pre-COVID rates.

A lot of car accident injuries don't manifest until hours or days after the accident. That they weren't injured at the scene is meaningless.

Yeah….they get injured when they talk to a lawyer

There is truth to the injury thing. I was rear ended in 2020 by a kid in a parking lot. He was driving an F250 while (probably) texting and didn't stop while I was at a stop sign behind another car at the end of what was essentially a long driveway into the lot. He had to have been going 20-30 mph and hit me so hard he bent my truck frame, put the bed into the cab, and pushed me into the car in front of me.

I felt ok immediately afterwards, but 2 days later my right shoulder hurt like a mother****er. Best I can figure is that my hand was on the wheel and my body was thrown forward by the impact, so my arm tried to stay still while everything else wanted to go forward. I immediately called my insurance in case I needed to file a claim later and said I felt ok, but when his insurance called me data later I told them I was hurting.

Re: insurance industry in general, the premium on my USAA homeowners + auto policy renewal was up about 25% this year. Up almost 70% from when I moved into this house four years ago. Just moved everything to Travelers and USAA made zero effort at retention when I cancelled the policies. Found that pretty interesting.

Saw this today on Reddit:

"Friend of mine who was part of Geico's "your position is no longer available apply to another department or goodbye" purge in sales had since left the company.

He got a call today that GEICO was attempting to re hire previous sales agents to grow the department back up and will be reopening phone sales back to certain states. He declined and many of his old sales friends who have left got the same calls. Maybe Geico can start growing policies again and stop the bleeding."

Exact same experience and told the USAA rep that from the beginning when I was talking to them. They really empathize with you but can't do anything. USAA leadership needs a makeover IMO
