Am I wrong for thinking that credit card bills should be paid if the estate has the $$? Seems like a no brainer. One thing if person dies and has no money to make next credit card payment, not sure if family should have to pay that, but another if has $15k in bills and passes down $100k and family thinks credit card companies should just "write it off".
Meh, the cc companies make more than enough to do this goodwill write off. I can't imagine the value is too high every year, but true data would be nice. I imagine it's part PR and marketing as well.

If you are looking for an estate attorney who specializes in estate planning for children with special needs I can highly recommend Molly Dear Abshire. https://www.wrightabshire.com/attorney/molly-d-abshire/

We did a revocable trust 2-3 years ago, put all personal property, changed all bank accounts, investment accounts to "the revocable trust of" both of our names, had a stamp made for endorsing, etc. Got a big binder with all documents (trust description, wills, deeds, insurance, bank and investment accounts, etc.) all well organized with tabs. Also added tabs with all accounts numbers and contact for all utilities, auto insurance, home owners insurance, etc.

We have a copy and our daughter has a copy. We don't have debt, so things should be pretty easy for her when that time comes. For us, it was worth the money.

Did putting your house into the trust affect your homestead designation with the county?

Only time hedge is right. If there enough assets that a trust or any kind of estate planning is warranted the money you spend to set up the most advantageous position is worth it. There is a reason wealthy people hire expensive CPAs and attorneys. Most of the time it's worth the money if you do your due diligence.
