Howdy all!

I am about 10 months from getting out of the Army and I will likely have an opportunity to do a 3-6 month unpaid internship here in the next 5-6 months.

There is no obligation for the company to hire upon conclusion of the internship period, they just have to offer an interview. Also, there is no requirement for the company to provide housing or anything else in addition to it being unpaid.

Currently our plan is to move back to North Texas to the Van Alstyne area. I have mainly been looking in McKinney area as there's a lot of opportunities there and it's not too far.

I studied Business at A&M so I am interested in most anything in that area. I have always been drawn toward Agricultural related business, and love heavy equipment and sales, I would definitely be interested in something like that.

Also have an interest in real estate and land development. I have lightly looked into getting my real estate license as well before coming back to Texas.

I would be interested to hear of any suggestions or ideas from any other Ags since I have the luxury of time , I'm exploring my options right now.

Additionally, if anyone has a suggestion for companies to look into interning with and possibly working with in North Texas, I would love to hear about it.

Thanks in advance!

Probably don't need to do an "unpaid" internship in this job market and given your life experience.

There are a lot of oil and gas manual labor field jobs available right now. If you like heavy equipment and don't mind working with your hands, it's great experience to work in the oil field for 6 months. Then you can parlay that into a heavy equipment sales job, if that's your goal. You'll also make a great entry level wage to kick start your post military career.

Thanks for sharing that with me. So the internship has to be unpaid by the company I intern with as I will still be receiving my active duty pay as I am not going to be out yet at this point in time.

Doesn't the internship need to be sanctioned by SkillBridge?

In another note, as a future user of this program, would love for the education of SkillBridge to continue on TexAgs.

Good Afternoon everyone, just wanted to bump this post again as I get closer to the time when I can take my internship (May/June timeframe with October being when I would be seeking full time employment). I am still primarily interested in Sales/Management but am open to real estate opportunities as well.

Please let me know if anyone would be interested in visiting about a potential opportunity, or knows anyone who might be interested. Thank yall!

It does not, if they are not already associated with the CSP program, it is simple to get them approved by CSP. So you can essentially work with any company. They just have to provide some information.
