Anyone have experience or info on getting an emergency power of attorney? An adult individual lacking the capacity to make correct decisions, and angry, who is on an emergency psych hold. Long story short, because of emotion and laws there's a good chance a facility is going to release a young lady on her own into a parking lot, despite the fact she has the capacity of a 5 year old

Not something I've done, but I think you'll need a temporary guardianship, which can be granted ex parte. A power of attorney is a voluntary act, and it doesn't sound like the subject has capacity at the moment, anyway.

Sorry, it's very difficult to do this quickly, but I would find a good estates/trust lawyer locally and discuss if there are any emergency guardianship processes he/she would recommend.

What twk said. You're looking for more than what a POA can give.
