Wow - you set the bar low if you think 20k a month is a lot.

That's not that much. I've known people that do 120. However, they pretty much to a person are business owners.

When I was an associate at a firm, I would spend 5-7 at least 8 months out of the year. I traveled a lot -- day and overnight trips for hearings, depositions, and other matters. Went to Houston for freakin' 3 hours once. I also seemed to be the point person on taking clients and some of our case witnesses to Ranger and Maverick games. I don't recall what credit card I was using back then, but I don't think I got much for it!

Let's not pretend like $20k isn't much just because some people spend more. Hell, I was around $10k a month when traveling a lot and have Amex points out the ass because of it.

$20k a month is a lot. It's not unheard of or crazy high, but it's a lot of damn money to be expensing monthly.

20k a month is a lot for an individual employee of a company using a business card. But not when compared to the company itself or a company as a whole. I run between $1.5 and $2 million a year on my spark cash card for a biz my wife and I own, which is just a single location small business. i'm sure many folks run a heck of a lot more through business cards.

I run 25-50k a year on my card in business expenses per year. A minor amount compared to the values in this thread, but honestly, me effectively loaning the company 2-4k a month irritates the hell out of me.

Your best bet will be either the Citi Double Cash card or the Capital One Spark Card. If she must get the card under just her personal credit the Citi card will provide a 1% rebate up front and match it when the bill is paid. You will need to work within whatever limit is assigned to the card. All spend and pay will reflect on her personal credit bureau. If she can apply under a business name then go with the Spark program. They have upgraded the program to where it now has no preset spending limits and offer 2% on all spend. It does have a $150 annual fee but you receive $200 when the spend reaches 200k each year to offset the fee plus an extra $50. The spend on the card does not reflect upon your personal credit bureaus either.
I've been in the credit card industry for over 20 years. PM me if you have any other questions. I'd be happy to help.

Thanks everyone for all the input. Sounds like the Citi Double Cash is what we're looking to do. We're simply doing it so she can avoid the corporate AP folks that aren't paying her vendors for months, and also hoping to get some cash back at the same time. Two birds one stone hopefully. Again, I appreciate all of the feedback.

Don't know why I was thinking about this earlier today but do you guys that expense $50k+ a month on your credit cards EVERY pay for a hotel room?

I'm nowhere near that and get 7+ free nights a year with Hilton.
