Any recommendations?
We live in West Houston/Katy though location in Houston isn't that big of a concern
Specifically, I have my mom's POA and she is in assisted living now. She and my dad created a trust on paper but never funded it after his death. They created this back in 1997 when the estate tax kicked in at a much lower threshold.
For simplification and to avoid confusion we are looking to simplify by dissolving the trust and having only a will if that is appropriate.
Her assets are nothing unusual:
thrift savings plan with the Feds (small amount), a variable annuity (small amount), vanguard mutual funds (taxable and Roth ), savings account, checking account, a car, and her house.
Thanks for any advice and especially if you have first-hand experience. If attorney is an Ag, great, but not required.
Thanks in advance. Gig'em.
