I'm hoping their earnings and forward statements tank the stock. Their PE is still 17, highs before virus around 150 and lows after around 80 and now around 100.

The virus has to be killing their business model. No cruises, sports are effectively canceled on ESPN and amusement parks are closed. They got DIS plus which is great all that other stuff has to be pulling them down.

i'm with you brother. DIS is overvalued right now. Post earnings buy in the 80s I hope.

I like the idea of buying a good streaming platform without the netflix PE that's backed by so much other diversity

If it really tanks I may go all in. With free trading now I may even setup a bunch of limit buys to average if incant sit there and actively watch

Wait you cant sit at home and "work" with the trade screen up all day. Best part of working from home. I'm not going to know what to do when I go back to work in an office.

Nah I really can't in my line of work.

I am working from home though. Not as bad as I thought it would be with a 3 year old

Obviously you haven't been paying attention, Tanked earnings don't mean squat in this market.

Earnings and forward looking statements

With most of their revenue streams either closed or hurting more than most and could be in the tank longer than most

Nothing is hurting their brand though. It's a good buy IMHO and may get even better.

I'm staying away from this trade, but I hope you're right. I would love to buy more DIS in the 80's for long term hold. We're seeing it's mostly about company guidance going forward. INTC crushed earnings and revenue and their stock price "tanked" w/o little to no guidance for the next year.

That's my point but no way DIS crushes earnings. Much of their revenue streams are closed or hurting bad in the case of ESPN without sports

No way their guidance is anything much beyond mentioning Disney Plus

Maybe they'll talk Mandalorians second season. I dunno what they can say, this sucks

I know ESPN is down advertising revenue, but not subscriptions, right? This isn't causing people to cancel cable; may be even the opposite.

Actually just saw article saying it is causing people to cut cord.

Let me see if I can find that article

Check this out: Why coronavirus could lead to the demise of cable TV as more consumers cut the cord

If college football does't start in the Fall, I'm cutting the cord (the cord being YouTubeTV for me).

I cut the cord 2 or 3 years ago and rotate Netflix, hulu, prime, HBO, SHO..etc. Disney plus is the cheapest one plus I have a 3 yr old so I'll keep that one

But for live TV I really only care about D1 football season. So I've used SlingTV, YouTube TV or HULU live during the season but I cancel as soon as the national title game is played. The net result is my bill is significantly cheaper from February thru August each year

For local news I use locast or antenna

Cable is already screwed. I cut the cord months ago and now split my YouTube TV account with our close friends and pay $25/month. All in for $60 internet and tv.

Yeah the savings is significant

But what finally made me cut the cord was I simply hate business models that use the gotcha method for increasing revenue.

With cable companies that meant calling India once a year to renegotiate the annual deal that expires and bumps the bill a solid 25% or more, until you find the time in your day to waste an hour talking to someone in India. **** that.

I'll never go back to cable.

An awesome side effect I never thought of was I now have TVs in multiple rooms at no additional cost since theres no box and wires and crap.

In fact I ended up with a gameroom with 6 Roku TVs

Which is why this season I'm using hulu live, unlimited TV streams. I have my own sports bar at home and will watch multiple games at once

They wont cancel the season. Worst case it's no fans in the stands

Apologize for the direction change of the thread, but it all depends on if there are students on campus. Closed campus = no football.

Edit to add: probably should forgo further football talk in this thread. Plenty of other threads on this discussion elsewhere.

Up almost 5% today. Hard to mesh that with an expected downward correction once earnings are reported.

Disney will toot about increased D+ subscribers, viewing counts and ESPN MJ watch times, in addition to bad earnings. The stock will go up more because it shows they have resilience as consumer demand changes. The parks don't make up all the business.

And they just announced Rise of Skywalker to Disney+ on Star Wars Day (May 4).

Don't know specifically about DIS, but I assume the timing would be similar to the company I work for that had earnings call last week. Our Q1 was strong with positive growth and basically all preCOVID. Q2 has sucked with some targeted layoffs, pay reductions, and cost cutting. The Q2 guidance is revenue flat YoY to down a significant %. And we are essential and still operating.

If DIS timing is similar, Q1 could be good, Q2 will be killer and forward forward guidance should be way down.

Of course, everyone here built positions during the lowest points and generally takes profits within 24 hours of a peak. We also generally win sports wagers at an 85% to 90% clip. This is the internet.

I hope you've made some money though.

So your thinking the hammer drops in Q2 earnings?
