This made news earlier in the year and I haven't heard anything since. Anybody here know what's the status of that?

No longer happening post merger and the property is back on the market.

I would assume they'll end up in the Woodlands over time.

I've got some friends that work there. One is pretty high up and this is what that person has been told in not so many words.

They still have 6-7 years on the lease at Greenway, so a lot can change.

True. But why would they continue leasing a place when they've got The Woodlands campus that will be able to house everyone?

Like I said, someone I know that is pretty high up has been told in not so many words The Woodlands will be OXY's new HQ.

Because they have to sublease the space for pennies on the dollar if they move. They're already taking a bath on their previous purchase so maybe don't want to hemorrhage more money. Especially with an activist investor breathing down their throats.

Do they have room to take the Oxy crew at Anadarko? I don't know. Do they employees want to have to commute up north? I don't know. At least Energy Corridor follows the population density.

I don't have any answers for their future, but until a couple months ago, they were for sure moving to the energy corridor. Things change.

Considering they are reaching out to brokers about leaving Greenway, I would say they are willing to pay whatever is needed to get out of their lease.

I had heard they are looking for a building large enough for a new campus to be build in Houston. 2 towers and a parking garage. Irish seems to know people at Oxy, I am going off of what I have heard on the RE side so it sounds like they are weighing their options but will not be going to the Energy Corridor. The time frame I had heard was in the next 3-5 years necessary for something to be built for them.

Don't worry about all that. Chevron is going to initiate a hostile takeover and get Oxydarko for the initial offer price for Anadarko alone. Then they are going to move San Ramon HQ to the Anadarko offices in the Woodlands.

I know this was made in jest, but no way CVX pays the initial price without all the assets Oxy is selling off. To say some folks at CVX were excited about Mozambique would be an understatement.

And yes, the premise you postulated is a bit of a running joke/theory with some higher level folks.
