Are there any tools that you use to alert you on specific stock activity or target prices?

For example, I have several individual stocks that I check maybe once per week, but I've missed out on 40% gains because I missed a spike. I don't have time to continuously follow my positions.

What are some methods to catch these spikes? Is there anything that can alert your mobile device?

TIA.

I use TDAmeritrade's ThinkOrSwim Platform. It's free to download if you open a brokerage account (don't have to fund).

You can pick certain equities and set price alerts that can be triggered on both their desktop platform as well the mobile version.

Sorry, had to. But to give you a real answer, I just use stops, limits, etc. to execute trades if I am going to be busy. I typically don't trade much short-term anyway.

If you only want to log into your brokerage once per week, I'd say take a few minutes to analyze where you see the value you want, and place a Good until Canceled Limit order at your price. Adjust weekly as you log in.
