Anyone have/used self-directed option inside their 401k? This was just offered & seems like a good option if used smartly. Of course along with the slick presentation docs is the price/fee list for services & trades.
We switched retirement providers so everyone had to roll over into new accounts with the new provider & naturally the new provider offers a totally different mix of funds. I chose similar funds to what I had before and kept the balancing the same. Now thinking about dipping toes into self-directed with 3-fund strategy and maybe a few stocks to make it interesting.
Anyway, just curious if anyone else has shifted over all/part of 401k to a self-directed option, and if they are happy with the outcome. Our platform would be TD Ameritrade (which I haven't used before.)
