Does anyone have a recommendation for someone that could come to my office and help us implement quickbooks online? I am in the Houston area.

You might give Xero a look too. I used QB for about 2 years and loathed it tremendously and have been much happier with Xero. A big benefit is that it syncs better with my practice management software, which may not be a factor for other industries, but I suggest checking it out unless you have to use QB.

+2 for Xero. Was a long time QB user. Just switched and definitely recommend Xero over QB.

I <3 QB. But I'm a CPA and most of our clients use QB.

Used both Quickbooks and Xero - Xero is difficult to work with in my opinion. I would definitely go with quickbooks!!

Just a question on QB. I'm an accountant but at a large company so we have an ERP. All the smaller companies seem to use QB. How hard is it to learn QB in my spare time?

It's not "hard". There are a million videos on you tube. There are probably videos on intuit.dom.

There's a lot to QB, so it kind of depends what you want to do in it.

If you have an accounting background, QB is not hard when you figure out what it is doing. Like CW said, there are tons of videos online.

You need to understand that certain accounts can get jacked up if you don't use QB correctly. Especially, A/R, inventory, A/P, payroll liabilities, etc.

You also need to understand how items work if you have work/construction in progress and/or inventory.

Thanks. I figure that you can mess up the subledgers in any accounting system fairly easily.

The reason I asked is because one day I might want to switch from a large company to a smaller one. Most of the job postings i have seen require QuickBooks experience. Just wondering how hard that is to teach myself.

If you are moving down from an enterprise type system to a small business system like quickbooks, you shouldn't have any issue picking it up. Just my opinion though.
