I'm not complaining about membership growth; I am simply stating the fact that "officers only" is more selective than military families. Military families includes relatives in the general civilian market. I have been on both sides: as a member and as a non-member. In both cases, USAA either did not want to pay, paid little so member premiums wouldn't go up, or refused to pay unless ordered by a court. Either way, it was always a big hassle. Of course, there may be thousands of people with the opposite perspective and experience. I only report facts "as I know them".
