Issue with moving company/scam

How long do you want to ignore this user?
I went with the cheapest quote for the movers and read good reviews on a couple sites(turned out to be fake websites/fake reviews). They had a DOT# listed, looked all official, real polite on the phone. Movers came and picked up my stuff on time, then the waiting game. Verbally they told me to expect 3-10 days before my goods arrived here in Utah. We called like on day 5,6,7. their response. "We are not sure when we will have a truck coming out your way, it is in storage here in Dallas". I called again today and called the same song and dance. I have files complaints with BBB, Attorney General of TX, TXDot, and the FMCSA(Federal agency for interstate moves). I did purchase additional insurance from a 3rd party. Any suggestions what else should I do or am I SOL? Of course in fine print on the back of their contract it says they have up to 30 business days to deliver before they have to start paying a $30/day penalty.

I think this may be pretty common.

My FIL is in the process of moving from WI to Kansas City. He is in town this weekend and was telling us about a similar issue with North American. He went with them because they gave the best delivery date in their quote - 9/20.

As of yesterday he got them to admit that the stuff was still in LaCrosse and was not even on the schedule to be delivered. He went thorough two levels of phone people on the initial call and said that each of them was very quick to offer "compensation."

He was going to call them today and escalate things further. But said with the way they responded it was obvious that this happens all the time. He is pretty tenacious and has no need for the "compensation" - he just wants his stuff. I imagine things might get a little rough.

I saw something like this on a 60 Minutes type show where moving companies would hold your items hostage and demand more money-and got away with it bc of fine print buried in the contract. I worked at an apt complex for a few years and PODS seemed to be the most reputable and reliable for people moving from out of state. I hope you get your stuff soon, and that it's all there.

PS-we also had a community meeting with the loacl police bc burglaries in town were bad one year. They suggested that you take photos of your valuables and serial numbers if they have them. And I believe they said some insurance companies offered to "hold" (i dont know if they meant hard copies or digital) these photos in case you were ever robbed.
