Looking at SMU, UTD, UTA, UNT & UDallas.

Can someone give me the pros and cons of each MBA program?

I've heard good things about UTD. I'm in the process of applying there.

I got mine at SMU Cox.

SMU is the most expensive but has the best network and highest rankings.

I really like UTD's program though. It's where I would have gone if they had had a part-time program when I got my MBA.

I wouldn't even consider anything else besides SMU or UTD.

FT, PT (professional) or Executive?

For Executive - UTD , SMU and Baylor are the top programs in the Metroplex

UTD runs class sizes up to a max of 65
The application price is $1,300 ($300 non-refundable, thousand goes towards your tuition). The new director came over from the Baylor program a couple of years back. I believe they meet on the weekends in Richardson and is heavily quantitative (as you would expect with a program rooted in engineering)

Baylor classes are smaller (<36) and meets at the Cooper Center downtown off Preston (you get a membership to the center as part of the tuition). Both cost the same (78K). Baylor's program is also heavy in quantitative skills with a focus on entrepreneurial skills. I think both take trips to DC and abroad (Asia, I think - comparing existent and emerging markets?). Both programs have executive coaching and bring in quite a few C-level associate professionals from the Metroplex.

Baylor's econ professor is the chief economist at the Fed here in Dallas, for example. In accounting, both bring in to top people - I think the accounting prof @ Baylor is the CFI at Radioshack?

You getting any reimbursement from work?

Yes a percentage would be paid for by work. What about the t.u. MBA in DFW . . . worth the money?

You wanting to take the GMAT?

SMU and Texas both require, UTD and Baylor do not (I believe) but will accept your scores as part of the consideration if you want them to be reviewed.

*scores must be sent from the Pearson testing center prior to you being able to view them yourself, so if you score lower, they cannot be recalled, etc

What doors do UNT, UTD, SMU, etc. open for you that are currently unavailable to you? An MBA program is really a basic cash flow model. What do you currently make? What is the average income of a student leaving the program / do you have special circumstances that you know you will get an immediate raise right after the program? Discount by the risk-free rate. If your expected life's income is greater with an MBA, do it. If not, don't. If it's close in value, find the difference and determine if you're willing to pay that much to give up 2-3 years of your life.
