ProtectionLiNK welcomes Lauren Carstens to the team. Lauren is Aggie class of 2017 and joining ProtectionLiNK as their new Operations Manager. Lauren began her career in marketing at Texas A&M as a Social Media Marketing Specialist in the Agriculture Extension Services Department. In 2020, Lauren moved to Denver, CO where she transitioned to IT and Digital Marketing Recruiting and People Operations. Lauren's passion is in Operations and Marketing as she oversees the organizational activities of ProtectionLiNK while also targeting the growth and development of our month to month subscription program. ProtectionLink is a warranty subscription service for cars, RVs, motor sports, and soon to be home electronics!

To reintroduce, ProtectionLiNK is a service contract (aka warranty) provider that was designed specifically for a month to month or subscription program. The intent was to make this a simple budget decision instead of a large financial commitment. Most vehicle service contracts cost about $3,500 - Customers can either pay up front or in most cases, finance that purchase. ProtectionLiNK was created as an alternative that doesn't require such a financial commitment.

Aggie ProtectionLiNK explainer video:

We offer a 7 day no risk look with 100% money back with no questions, with a month to month commitment that can be canceled at any time. Our firm costs about 40% less than our competitors with transparency on our products. We also keep you in the level of coverage you bought even if you now have 600k on your odometer. Our competitors reduce your coverage when you get to 100k miles on your odometer. We also cover RVs and Powersports, and will soon be adding Home Electronics, offering coverage on your phone, computer and work from home setups, gaming systems and more!

Have you ever been stranded on a Friday afternoon in the middle of nowhere? My story on how ProtectionLiNK could have saved me THOUSANDS!

The year, 2020. During this time of my life, (pre-pandemic) I had the wonderful opportunity and flexibility to travel the world. I have been to 5 out of 7 continents and had planned on making that 6 out of 7 in March of 2020, of course the world had other plans. Fast forward to mid-April, one month into the start of the pandemic. I was furloughed from my job and had been at home for weeks going stir crazy. I got the bright idea to start road tripping across the country, to national forests and parks, car camping with my dog Lacie. This way, I'd still be keeping my distance from others, self quarantining, while also being able to travel and explore parts of the US I had never seen before. I took my 2015 Mazda CX-5 from College Station, TX, and pointed towards Colorado, first stop, Rocky Mountain National Park.

The start of my trip started smoothly, making the first 10hrs of the trip without any problems. What felt like the MINUTE I crossed over the state border into New Mexico, my car began shaking and was struggling to shift between gears. Let me start off by saying, I know next to nothing about cars. Sure, I grew up with a brother and dad who taught me how to check my oil, tire pressure and tread depth, and change a tire if need be, but that's about as far as my mechanical skills take me. I might not have known what was wrong with my car, but I did know something was off. I broke down in Santa Rosa, NM. I called around to the open mechanic shops, one after another until I finally found one that was open and could take a look at my problem, turns out my transmission had blown. Not only could this shop not fix my problem, but the closest location that could look at my transmission was in Santa Fe, NM, over 100mi away. This all came about on a Friday afternoon at 2PM, meaning I had to get my car towed 100mi to Santa Fe, to an open transmission repair shop before they closed for the day, hopefully one that was open on a Saturday. Luckily I was able to get my car towed to Santa Fe, into an open shop that happened to be open til 6PM that Friday, where they began the inspection of my transmission. Ultimately, the whole system has to be replaced and took an additional 5 days to get parts and complete the work. Total out of pocket costs - $3500 for a new transmission, $400 to tow my car 100mi, rent a car for 5 days while my car was being serviced on top of staying in hotels. All in all, this cost me over $5000 to fix out of pocket, with only minor reimbursements. This was the most expensive trip I'd ever been on.

This is where ProtectionLiNK kicks in, general wear and tear is not covered by insurance - that is why warranty and protection coverage is needed. We offer different packages that cover your vehicles' engine, transmission, air conditioning, brakes, suspension and more - all at a low monthly affordable price. On top of vehicle coverage, ProtectionLiNK also covers roadside assistance AND towing, as well as travel reimbursement of hotel and meal expenses if you're away, just to mention a few perks that could have helped me in my travels. So when your stuff DOES break, it doesn't have to break the bank.

Fortunately, I was able to continue on and still be able to see some of this amazing country on my travels, all while keeping my distance and staying safe during the first few months of the pandemic before returning home. I learned that, much like the pandemic, there are so many things out of our control, but with ProtectionLink, you can gain a peace of mind knowing your car, RV, Powersports, and soon to be home electronic is covered!
