Slight possibility that i could end up there so would like to get some opinions...

Best town to live in? Schools, crime, cost of living, etc. Been to salt lake and park city. Loved PC, salk lake was meh.

Best real estate market? As a realtor, it would be nice to know where the best market is. I would guess salt lake.

Anything else you might be able to add would be great.

I'm up in Ogden - job related. I love it out here. Everyday I look at mountains that many people travel to come see and play in. I can ski at some of the best resorts in the country within 30min. Excellent hiking, camping, shooting, etc. could never move back to TX again.

SLC has some great neighborhoods and really cool things to do. I'd live there in a heartbeat. Everyone is really active and lots of stuff to do outdoors of course. Not Mormon feeling at all either. Of course, PC is great as well and has really developed lately with some normal stores (Walmart, wholefoods, etc) so you don't have to drive to SLC to get normal things.

I've been living in or around salt lake for about 6 years now. The real estate market here is very different from texas. It took me a while to get over this. PC is nice, very nice. It's also pricey, very pricey. If you want a single family home there, its almost inpossible for less than 350 grand. That I literally as cheap as it gets. I saw one recently for just under 400 grand that was 500 sqft. ( just off main street though) SLC has lots of options? What are you looking for? Where are you working? What kind of commute do tou want? I can help point you in the right direction. Home values across the board are up about 10% this past year. However, inventory is at like a 10 year low. It makes for an interesting market. Lots of people are underwater and aren't selling unless they have to. Unemployment here is below 6 so most of these people have jobs, so no reason to sell. They just are sitting. That means competition is high for fair market homes. If its clean, and it's priced right it is going quick. Our neighbors just sold their home in 5 days. It was priced with the comps and they still got what they were asking and the buyer was willing to pay closing costs. This is very common. Not seeing a lot of wiggle room on these homes. I'm not a realtor, just looking for a home myself!

Sorry, just re read your post. As for cities..... In salt lake you have several options. Let's start with the bad. Don't do west valley, toelle, magna, taylorsville. Generally speaking, east of i15 is better than west, until you get south of about 90th south, then going west can be great. South Jordan, riverton, and draper are all really nice areas. There Are lots of newer developments in these cities. Parts of west Jordan can be ok. Herriman is newer and nice but it took a beating when the market stumbled. Cottonwood heights, east millcreek can be good. Typically older homes but very convenient location. Sugar house also holds its value really well. Lots of older homes in that area but lots of people love it there. North of salt lake, bountiful can be nice too.

Let me know if you have other questions.

Well this is at least a year away and probably longer. It's just a possibility and one that we have gotten excited about if it were to happen. Ill post some more questions when I have more time. Thanks for the help.

Ok. Well, it's a great place to live, and a great place to raise a family. Very safe, very family oriented and lots of things to do. If it were to come about, you guys should be excited.
