That's pretty broad... What info. are you looking for?

Since I'm fighting the Winter Blues, I'll start by saying that you should move in the summer, unless you like it wet. Also, Seattle receives less solar illuminance than any other city in the Lower 48, edging out Portland. The only place worse is Juneau, AK... Some folks aren't ready for it.

If you need info on neighborhoods, sights, etc., I'd be glad to help.

right now we are really just trying to make up our minds about taking the job.

I've heard and tried to verify is that the Seattle area has about 300 days of rain a year?

By "solar illuminance", do you mean that the days are shorter, or that it just doesn't shine as brightly?

i really don't have any info on the northwest other that what i've been able to google and i just wanted to get a first hand perspective on it.

thanks,

When I lived in SE Alaska as a kid, we got something like 80 days of sunshine per year... Seattle is MUCH better than that. Summers are GREAT!

By illuminance, I mean actual amount of light (candellas) that shine on the surface. Because of the marine climate here, it stays cloudy for much of the year, which allows less light. By comparison Nome, AK gets about the same amount of solar illuminance, but that's because winters near the arctic circle are really dark...

Don't get me wrong: Seattle is my home and I like it here. Just know that people who move up from the South, especially, find our long rainy season (Nov-Apr) to be quite depressing...

If you decide to go for it, I've got tons of local knowledge and would be happy to help.

I just out here from Norfolk Va. I found a really nice spot called Mill Creek. Lots of APTs and houses on Mill Creek Blvd. And a nice town center.

I freakin love Seattle and would jump on the first opportunity that came up to live there. A good way to think of it is a richer Austin. Just my two cents.
