Anybody have any knowledge of somewhere I can go to watch the Ags here in Lexington? I just moved here from TX, and I can't live without my Aggie Football.

PLEEASE tell me there's something I can do to get my fix...

You gotta help me fellas, you just gotta...I'm gettin' the shakes here...

You'll be in the same boat as most people in Texas. Watch the games when they are nationally televised. Listen to the radio (online) when they are not.

GregZeppelin - you are in a tough spot

Big East has Louisville and Cincinnati

SEC has Kentucky, Tennessee, and Vandy

Big 10 has tOSU and IU

Who is your tv carrier?

Any type of crowd you like to hang out with?

preps? military? uptown? casual? academic?

Kentucky:

My TV carrier is Insight

And I will hang with whoever has got an affinity for, or at least willingness to watch, the Fightin' Texas Aggies.

But it does seem to be a little bit hopeless, from what I've found so far....

I'm in E. Tenn.

You can actually watch most of the Aggie games (that are actually televised) online (i.e. on ESPN 360, www.justin.tv, or channelsurfing.net). You can also watch a majority of the basketball games like that. Works for me; I rarely miss any Aggie games that are actually being televised somewhere. I simply hook up the computer to the LCD, and voila!

Insight feeds BTN as secondary to SEC, and Big East and A - 10 as well. With that in mind you are probably only going to get tu, ou, or UNL from your primary carrier. I think you can get Fox Sports South and Fox Sports Ohio. With the BTN, sometimes you can get secondary Big 12 games on Fox Sports Ohio.

On the plus side I think ESPN 360 (now ESPN 3) is in the basic Insight package if you are using their modem. Might not hurt to call them and check in.

2 Keys is the UK bar, so odds are not good there (get used to the town being blue when UK plays)

I think there was a place called Beef O'bradys that seemed to get secondary games. With Avon, Ft Knox, and Ft Campbell in the area there may be someone who has better knowledge on a backdoor link.

I think for the ESPN to work in your market you have to have Insight package. I think Eastern Tennessee does not have the Insight feed. I know some guys down in Clay county and Bell county that are not happy at the service (I think they are Charter or Time Warner). ZooGuy is right about justintv as I have had folks find the feeds then link them.

Another thought is Keeneland race track, as many texans are in town for the races and that place gets satellite feeds from the most obscure places to make their big supporters happy. Even if you can not get it ther, at least you would have a good day at one of the most unique tracks in the US (great place to meet attractive coeds). Also, the WEG will be in town for the next few weeks (I will probably be in town at some point to attend part of the games) so it might be something to check out.

How long are you in Lexington for, and what brought you to the town?

Hey thanks for the info. Kentucky, I got a friend that's been asking if I wanted to check out Keenland, maybe I'll have to go and see for myself.

I will certainly check on ESPN 3 now that we have a tv game coming up next Thurs. hopefully this works out.

I will be here in Lexington for the next three years, I'm in my first semester of law school at UK.

To be honest I rally wasn't excited about the prospect of moving to Lexington when it became clear that UK was my best option for law school (Translation: best combo of educational quality and scholarship $$$) but aside from the lack of Aggie awesomeness, it's really not a bad place to be...I get Shiner, Blue Bell, and halfway decent Mexican food, plus Greaters Ice Cream from Cinci.

Thanks again for the help, maybe I'll see you around sometime, I'll be the one in Aggie stuff, it comprises about 75% of my wardrobe at this point in my life.

Is fortune still teaching?

gtown gets you skyline - but the stuff in cincy is still better (the franchise operators are not as solid)

if you live close to campus check out tolly ho

if you have student status, check out a football game, but make sure to check out a bball game in rupp!

I will probably be in lex the next few weeks for the World Equestrian Games (first time it has ever been held in the US). Check it out if you get a chance.

fall and spring are the time to do stuff in (the winters can be nothing but slushy, and the summers can be nasty humidity) the area. good luck with law school.

they used to have some locally produced ales that were not bad, and of course you are in the heart of bourbon country.

if you want selection there was a real irish bar downtown (mccarthy's) where all the irish lads hung out. have not been in there in at least a decade. there used to be a place called Marikias (sp) that had one of the better beer / ale selections around (again this was ages ago, so they may not be around any more).

HTH

I'm two hours south of Lexington. If you guys are ever down towards Knoxville, there are some good Aggs down here!

Zeppelin,

I am in Cincinnati and will be watching the game on Thursday night with some Aggies in Covington, KY. Let me know if you are interested in joining up with us. Other than that, I travel to Lexington on a weekly basis so we could grab some lunch sometime.

Hey everyone,

Yes Fortune is still teaching, but I don't have him for anything.

I've found Kentucky Ale a suitable substitute for Shiner Bock, and the Bourbon Barrel Ale is outstanding...except for the $12 for a 4-pack price tag.

Tolly Ho is a great burger hole, plus you get to order your food with extra 'ho-sauce' which provides boundless opportunities for a group of tipsy law students to pun away shamelessly.

I definitely appreciate the invitation to Knoxville, I know I want to hit up a Tennessee game eventually, sounds like a good time.

As for Cincinnati, I grew up there, and my girlfriend lives in Cincinnati, she is also an Aggie in grad school at NKU. So I find myself in Cinci on a regular basis. I don't think I can make it this Thursday, but I sincerely appreciate the invitation, and I'm certainly looking to meet some fellow Ags in this part of the country, we should definitely be in touch. Also, me and the GF are both class of 2009, so we should be roughly the same age... assuming of course the '08' is your A&M class year...

Thanks again for everything y'all.

Gig 'Em and BTHO OSU!!!
