Me and the wife are planning on taking a weekend getaway trip in late November. We are in our late 20s and looking for a place to mainly relax, possibly play some golf, maybe some places to eat and things to do around the area if it is not a resort.

We are trying not to take off any time from work as we don't have much PTO left. We both get off at 12 on Fridays so that will make the trip a little longer.

Please send any recommendations that you have that is within a few hours of College Station!

If golf is a priority I'd say Omni Barton Creek is my fave. Hyatt Lost Pines golf is really good but I think the rest of the resort is catered to young families and I've never liked the food.

If it's more to relax, I really like Onera Wimberly or Camp Lucy.

Fredericksburg is a little more than 2 hours but could be a decent November option. I also second the Omi at Barton Creek but I think it's more fun when it's warm enough to enjoy the pool. It overlooks the 18th hole of the Fazio Foothills course and it's apparently customary to heckle the golfers. The pool has been kind of a semi party vibe when we've been there. Two caveats though. The golf courses connected with the resort are pricy. Also, try to avoid any tu home games. They are so annoying.

I always love the JW Marriott in San Antonio, especially at that time of the year. It has golf onsite. As Kreg mentioned, Hyatt Lost Pines would be another good one.

no golf, in the immediate area but Round Top is a good place to get away from the crowds. good food, brewery, and plenty of airbnb's and bed n breakfasts in the area.

We stayed there MANY years ago, right before it stopped being a Marriott property. Probably 2012, maybe 2013 (I know it stopped being a Marriott in 2013).

We really enjoyed our stay and the area.

The Inn at Dos Brisas was perfect for weekends like this. I'm still annoyed they closed.

Hyatt Lost Pines is great for the weekend and sounds like it checks all your boxes.

We stayed at Wiggle Butts outside of Fischer for the meteor shower in August so we were seeking out in the boondocks. Vaaler Creek is close by and you can usually pick up a public time there. For food, not a lot of options that we checked out, took a bunch with us.

Option for "not a resort" atmosphere.

Yep, and we haven't found anywhere that comes close. We end up doing secluded vrbos now, but we have to do all of the cooking ourselves that way, and that part of it sucks.

My sister's fiance is from Brenham and said it sold to Drake. WTF?!

Yes, Covid killed them and Drake bought the property.
