Anyone have any details on this place? Looks to be brand new and opening early next year. Looking to take the family some time next summer and the prices at Finest are looking pretty good.

Finest Riviera Cancun will be a brand-new all-inclusive resort from The Excellence Collection, scheduled to open in February 2027. (Fingers crossed that they can keep this opening date!)

It is a separate property that will be located very close to Excellence Riviera Cancun, rather than a renovation or expansion of an existing resort. The biggest difference between Excellence and Finest is that Finest Riviera Cancun is family-friendly and geared toward all ages, with multiple pools, a splash park, kids' activities, and a variety of family-oriented accommodations, while still offering adults-only areas and elevated Excellence Club amenities.

In comparison, Excellence Riviera Cancun remains an adults-only resort with a quieter, more traditional luxury-resort atmosphere. For families or multigenerational groups wanting the Excellence level of service and a brand-new property, Finest Riviera Cancun could be a really exciting option.

what would be better for nine year olds you think....the new Finest or Dreams Playa Mujeres?

For older kids, I would lean towards Dreams Playa Mujeres - especially if they are active and want a resort where there is always something going on.

Dreams PM waterpark has bigger slides and a lazy river. From what I understand, the new Finest will have a small water park/splash pad only.

I think the kids clubs are probably similar at both, but Dreams does have their explorers club with video games, movies, treasure hunts, crafts, etc... We took my son when he was 8 and he loved the kids club.

For most client families looking for an all-inclusive property I usually send the ones with smaller kids (ages 2-6) to Finest and then the older kids to Dreams.

Finest is designed to give families a more upscale, refined resort experience, but the overall feel is still somewhat adult-oriented with family accommodations. Dreams, on the other hand, is intentionally built around the family vacation experience, with kids' programming, entertainment, pools, water activities, and a more lively atmosphere.

Just going to add that sargassum is likely to be pretty bad in the "Riviera Cancun" area, whereas it is generally a lot better in the Playa Mujeres area. You can still get it in PM, but RC is usually a lot worse.

any other suggestions besides dreams? Would prefer somewhere with a nice beach with less of a chance of bad sargassum. Cabo suggestions? Any other Caribbean spot is similar price range? Not saying we wont try finest, since it will be brand new, but other options are welcome. Main hang up with Cabo is the kids need a swimmable beach.

I took a peek at prices for next summer already and I was shocked to see how expensive an AI even in Cancun was for a family of 5. Our trip to Turks this summer was cheaper. Our 11-year-old wants to do an AI next, but they are just becoming out of reach. Mexico used to be so affordable.

I personally like Dreams Playa Mujeres. On a great beach, good size rooms, waterpark onsite.

Cabo you cannot get in the ocean at most resorts. Puerto Vallarta you could do Dreams Bahia Mita, but ocean can be very rough and you need water shoes.

Dominican Republic has some nice resorts, but they also can have sargassum. They are opening a brand new Moon Palace Grand there that looks amazing. I had it booked for clients but they had to cancel due to health reasons.

Planet Hollywood is near Dreams Playa Mujeres and prices better, but reviews are very mixed. Most complain about dining reservations and some cleanliness issues. I've stayed there before but its been a few years.

Finest Playa Mujeres is a better beach, but I just don't feel they have much for older kids.
