I thought I would throw this out there for good news.

My wife and I needed to renew our passports that expired in 2020. We didn't renew them initially since we moved form TX to OR in 2021 and didn't anticipate any international travel for a while. Well, we ended up moving back to TX last fall and have a fun trip planned with family later this summer,

Since they were greater than 5 years expired the travel.gov website basically said we needed to start over. We gathered our docs and went to a local service center. I needed a little extra documentation since I still had an OR driver's license (appt with TX DMV this week), oddly enough they accepted my health insurance card as a secondary ID since I couldn't find my social security card.

Long story short, we went to the passport office on June 7 (Sunday) and received our passports books in the mail yesterday (June 22). We did not request expedited processing, that's a fast turnaround.

Had mine renewed via mail and it was a quick turnaround time as well. Not displeased!

Good to know! Put mine in the mail yesterday and requested expedited service for a work trip in mid July.

Headed to Alaska?

Our passports were 10 + years expired and we got our new ones in about three weeks…Pleasantly surprised!

Applied online for my renewal on June 5th and it arrived last week. Less than 10 business days.

No, just a trip with the wife's family to Canada via Niagara Falls.

We've already been there but they haven't, so we are de facto tour guides.

We recently went through the passport process for two of our teens, in preparation for a family vacation. We were told they were taking 4-6 weeks at the date of application and we had 8 weeks until the trip, so we elected not to pay the expediting fee.

Got both passports within 3 weeks.

Wife did her renewal through the app earlier this year.. it took 1 week / 7 calendar days for non expedited!

Couldn't believe it honestly.

Now if they would only speed up Global Entry approvals... I expire in July and re-applied last week. They note of the website says they are extending the grace period due to the backlog.

you can kind of get this free with the MPC app. Might be airport dependent, but DEN is my home base, and when I arrive from international, the MPC app directs me to the global entry line. Cost me $0.

Applied at the local post office for my daughter's first passport. We paid to expedite.

Submitted 6/15
Original Birth Certificate mailed back to use 6/18

So hopefully this is going quickly.

I'll update when we received the actual passport back.

Yeah, flew back from BKK recently w/ my son who doesn't have GE, and we used the MPC app and were directed to the GE line at SFO. You do get TSA Pre w/ GE though, so there's that.

We just renewed ours online, and it was exactly seven days from the day we submitted the request until they arrived in the mail without expediting. I was shocked.

Passport received today!! 1 week exactly.

Do not let yours expire anymore, the online process is super easy and quick. You don't even have to go to Walgreens or whatever for a passport photo to be printed, just take it with your phone!
