Looking for a place to take the family for two nights to ride horses and maybe fish in early August. With hotels costing $400-600, might as well pony up and see what is out there.

Or if anybody has a direct contact for a short term rental in the area, please let me know.

My opinion: I think $400 - $600 a night is going to be more affordable than a dude ranch. In that area, Lone Mountain Ranch is the best option but they usually have a 3 night minimum stay requirement and I've regularly seen it at or above $700 per person per night.

If I were you I'd find a house or hotel you like and then hire a great outfitter to do a fishing day. Lone Mountain (and probably others) offer day passes where you can take part in their activities like the rodeo, horseback riding, etc. Or, just find a good outfitter for that.
