Flew into Munich last week. No issues. Smooth.

Flew into Frankfurt last week and it was 45 minutes to clear on entry. Flying out 5 days later was 1 hour plus with almost all being Americans trying to fly out. Most of us were stuck in passport control while our planes started boarding.

Frankfurt is a flippen disaster. Kiosk down, passport control 2 hrs long. People are pissed … me included. Missed connection by 1 minute. Flying business and they don't give a crap

Paid for escort coming…. Had 2 hrs on the way home, thought that would be sufficient, boy was I wrong.

Won't make that mistake again

Here was our experience last few weeks....

Landed at CDG on 7am Monday morning 6/22. Regular scan line was going fast, but because we had a 6 and 10 year old, we were put in the longer line. There was a plane from Ethiopia in front of us with 2/3 windows open and it was going slow. There was a 3rd line for business/first that had no one it. I went and asked if my premium economy made me eligible for that lane, and they let us. Saved us 2 hours for sure.

Coming home, we flew from MRS to Frankurt. In Frankfurt we had to clear before we left. At one point, we were in a line that didn't look too bad and a Lufthansa employee came up and asked any US passport holders to follow him. About 50 of us followed him through the airport while he held up sign like we were on a cruise ship tour. Wound up in some other area, where we had had to go through 2 other stations. The guy told us that it should be quick, but their wifi was bad so every passport took at least 30 seconds to come back. All of it felt very unclear and made up on the fly but it worked.

Still don't understand why being in First/Business class with an airline should have anything to do with which line someone uses for TSA here or passport control in Europe, but it works that way sometimes. Glad you used that to your advantage!

Sitting in FRA now. Originally landed in MUC about 2 weeks ago.

Arriving in MUC was easy. The airport wasn't crowded and I was able to use the self-serve kiosk with no issues. I could see where this line would back up depending on how many planes land at the same time.

Flew into FRA from VCE. Despite the fact that I had my photo and fingerprints recorded in MUC upon entry, I still had to do it again to leave. There is some sort of "pre-registration", but it is same day only. And even if you pre-register, you still have to queue in the kiosk line, you just bypass the kiosk. Doesn't move you more than a couple people ahead in the line since the kiosks is a bottleneck.

Took me about 40 min to deplane, get to the terminal by bus, and make it through the line to the Z gates for my flight to IAH. This was at 745-830 am.

Thankfully, I did NOT have to go through a security check again.

My poor traveling companion was scheduled to fly VCE to IAD and they cancelled her flight in the middle of the night. She was rerouted through FRA with only about an hour layover.

Also, FRA is terrible for international layovers. Totally dominated by Lufthansa. Staff here are not friendly or helpful, except for the one lovely United employee I found after being rudely dismissed by three other employees.

Food options are awful. Only the Lufthansa Senator lounge, which has very restricted access. I don't think United Polaris can even get in there (unless you also have gold status or higher). No priority pass lounges. Can't find any charging stations anywhere. Not even a hook in the bathroom stall to hang my bag on.

Also cooling my heels at FRA. EES here is a cluster. Luckily we have a 4 hour layover. Otherwise we'd be screwed

Landed Frankfurt from IAH this morning on LH441 at 0745. By the time we deplaned (by bus), went through the hell that is FRA we made it to the lounge at 1025 (next flight wasn't until 1155). Passport control was 1hr 35min for us with just two officials working the main line. They had another line for people that had a flight within 45 minutes that moved much faster. Even got the joy of going back through security today. I hate this airport with every fiber of my being.

MAD was a breeze last week. Scan your passport, scan your fingerprints, walk to a different kiosk, scan your passport again, and walk out of the airport. No agents or stamps required.
