How old are the kids? The WWII museum is a can't-miss, IMO. But if your kids are young, they aren't going to enjoy it as much.

We spent a whole day there and didn't even make it to the Pacific Theater and D-Day exhibits.

The WWII Museum is my favorite spot in New Orleans. The kids might like an airboat ride thru the swamps and looking at gators. A cemetery tour is fun too.

I love staying at the Ritz but that isn't always in the budget. The Hyatt Regency by the Superdome was nice and wasn't on Bourbon (which can be a good thing if you're with the family).

Tons of great restaurants so throw a dart. I like Cochon Butcher for lunch. It's near the WWII museum. Cade du Monde of course. Jazz Brunch at Commander's Palace. Le Petit Grocery. Herbsaint. Revolution. The list goes on and on.

2nd Cochon Butcher for lunch. Best sandwiches I've ever had.

Mr. B's Bistro > authentic BBQ shrimp, shrimp n grits
Willie Mae's > fried chicken
Mr. Ed's Seafood & Oyster House > grilled oysters, better than anything in the French Quarter
Chophouse New Orleans > semi-upscale steak, seafood
Mother's > breakfast
Irene's > great Italian
AKA 13-0

Drago's for the char-grilled oysters. When we go to New Orleans, its our first stop and has been for over 20 years.

We stayed at the Ritz last trip and loved it. Saw several families there and it was nice and done up for Christmas. Great location.

You need 3 days to cover the whole WWII museum. There is so much to read, listen to, and see. Interestingly enough, they bought the planes off of Ebay.

There are a lot of dining recs here. The Citanovich's are good peeps, but the charbroiled oysters at Mr. Eds are just as good.

Hotels... really depends on what you want to spend. The Roosevelt is nice. The Ritz is under renovation... new windows being installed in the courtyard.

The Monteleone is nice. Carousel bar is kinda neat.

Anything in the Vieux Carre could be loud on the weekends.

Dining. Could recommend lots of places. Some are good above. Like Cochon Butcher. Cochon is also great at dinner.

Clancy's is really good if you can get a reservation. Will be an Uber ride. Apple Barrel is good Italian. Everybody says Irene's... sure, its cozy.

I always recommend driving through Metairie Cemetary. Open during the day. Then go see Paupers Cemetary.

Take them to the Mardi Gras world, and you see them building all of the Floats up close.

Fan of Bacchinal. Don't ever recommend visitors make there way to the far end of Bywater. Not a fan of Dookie Chase's. Been some time since I have been at Brennans. If you go, get the Banansas Foster. Made at the table. They invented the dish.

If you can get in the main dining room, then yes. The adjacent building for dining is no bueno.

I agree with this. You have to wear a jacket to enter. I think Wednesays are still $0.25 martinis for lunch.

Service is 2nd to none!
