Howdy, I have 40 PlusPoints that expire this Saturday, 1/31.

PM me if you have a flight on United this week and would like to attempt an upgrade.

Would it only work for 1 person or potentially 2? I have honeymoons who will attempt to fly to Cancun tomorrow (if you don't get any actual Texagers to claim - def defer to them)

Depending on their status with United, it may be enough for two one way upgrades. But the upgrades are space available based on several factors (elite status, fare, class (Y, H, etc.)

Oh they def won't have any status. They don't even have UM #'s. Thanks.

I thought plus points couldn't be transferred and could only be used by another person if you (points holder) was flying also?
The trouble with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

The Mileage Plus member with Plus Points can have them applied to flights for other people, even if they are not on the same flights.

United's SWUs (system wide upgrade) were the old upgrade terminology, and now the Plus Point system is in use. In the past, I've used SWUs for others, and had other friends apply their SWUs to my flights. Now with Plus Points, it works the same way.

And for clarification...I am not referring to mileage/points upgrades.

Hope this helps! (And no, I am not a travel agent and I don't work for United!)

I've had like 60 expire over the past couple years because I can't ever get an upgrade to go through.

I know...... this is the first year I've had 50 or so expire. I almost always get to use them all, but it seems to be a bit more difficult every year.

Thanks.

I'm going to give it a try soon. Looks like I have 400 to exchange or use by the end of March. Never really a chance to use them. I appreciate the help.
