Farmstead ambiance is very nice... food is below average at best in our opinion.

We had a very nice lunch at Farmstead in St. Helena and another nice stop at RH in Yountville.

Farmstead was one of the most disappoiting meals I have had....not just for Napa Valley.

Interesting.

The service was so bad when I went a few years ago that I actually left a review. Beautiful place and great wine. Agree, the food wasn't enough to make me want to go back.

For a light casual lunch, go to the Oxbow Market and eat at Hog Island Oyster Bar.

sorry to bump such an old post, but we're headed to Yountville in a few weeks and I've booked Ad Hoc and Bouchon for dinner.

Anybody have any other good lunch spots maybe in St. Helena or Calistoga?

Every time we go to Napa, we always stop for lunch at Gott's Roadside in St. Helena. Don't overthink it.

We found a new lunch spot in St Helena this past April: Under-Study. It's a new "sister cafe" to Press, run by the same owners/chefs. We originally stopped in early one day for an espresso and then also grabbed a glass of Krug and a croissant. We came back a couple hours later and had lunch there. We'll definitely be throwing this place into the rotation.

Another good lunch spot in is Fleetwood in Calistoga.

I like Ad Hoc for brunch but prefer other restaurants for dinners.

I've done Gott's in Napa. Good spot!

I will second the Under-Study recommendation. That is a neat place.

Also, even if you've been to Gott's before, it's worth a revisit in my opinion. They have a deep menu, great seasonal items, and you are not beholden to just getting burgers and fries.

We are here now. We had Bouchon last night. It was just ok to me. Wife felt the same way. Food was underwhelming. Bar tender made a heck of an old fashion though LOL.

Just crushed a Model English muffin, headed to understudy for lunch, a wine tasting this afternoon and Bistro Jeanty for dinner.

Gonna need to diet for a month when I get back!

thought I'd give a little follow up:

Bouchon - terrible french onion soup. wife's steak was good and my chicken was ok,but not great. very disappointing.

Ad Hoc - the add-ons (lobster roll and fried chicken) were much better than the set menu. Fried Chicken was good...lobster roll was terrific. Good spot...but I nothing to get excited about, especially for the money.

Bistro Jeanty - 1000% legit. This spot knocked our socks off. Tomato soup, rabbit, short ribs, creme brule...all of it was amazing.

Understudy - we did a 'brunch' kinda thing one day here and this place is also legit. Chicken and Waffles were incredible.

V Sattui - the deli at this winery was really good! I wish we would have visited this place earlier in the week. Great deli spot for all sorts of stuff and a little picnic area. We both enjoyed this spot.

Another recommendation for V. Sattui, the deli was incredible. Wasn't blown away with the wine but would absolutely stop in for lunch again.

Scala Osteria in downtown Napa is one I'd add to the list for a more seafood forward Italian option. It was delicious.

Bistro Jeanty, Bottega, Model & Gotts were all incredible.
