We use a Laveo Dry Flush toilet in our van. It's just me and my wife. No kids.

We've had it for four years. No problems. No smells. It wraps your "deposit" in a Mylar bag. The Mylar cassette is in a heavy duty trash bag which you dump in any trash container when it's full. Basically a giant diaper. We get about 15-17 flushes.

It is somewhat expensive per flush compared to other options. We use primarily for nighttime trips to the bathroom and for camping off grid when no toilets are available.

Nice thing is that it's clean, no smells, don't have to handle anything, no chemicals, etc.

For spring break we're doing Big Bend.

I've booked 4 nights at the RV resort near Lajitas (Maverick RV Ranch I think it's called)? and then 3 nights up in Marathon at their RV park to use Marathon as a jump off point for trips to Alpine, Marfa, etc.

Will have an almost 3 year old and a 7 year old. Any suggestions, will be lots of driving and hoping to do some easy hikes. Hopefully the pool is doable at the RV place in Lajitas.

I'm planning on doing Gage Hotel, McDonald Observatory, trip to Marfa, anything in Alpine?

Likely try to get out and play a quick round at Blackjack crossing. Are any of the other activities at Lajitas worth doing with kids that age?

Edit: just changed our 2nd leg to Lost Alaskan in Alpine vs. Marathon. Looks a little nicer and has a pool/playground for the kids.

Telescopes????

Does anyone stargaze out of their RV?

Looking online, using a telescope seems to be a delicate balance between a big one that lets you see lots of things, and a small one that you can deploy and stow quickly.

Any thoughts?
