Hey y'all over thanksgiving my wife and I are going to New Orleans. I have only ever been to party with the bros. Food is definitely priority number 1.

Where should we stay?
Where should we eat?
Any tour type things we should do?
Music venues?
What's your favorite thing about New Orleans?

The Roosevelt should be decorated for Christmas, and it's beautiful. Rooms are small, but fine for 2.

The WW II Museum is outstanding. We spent a full day there and still talk about going back.

GW Fins
Mothers
Deanies for BBQ shrimp
Cochon
Muffalatta from Central Grocery picnic on Jackson Square or at Besthoff Sculpture Gardens
Court of Two Sister Jazz Brunch
Gumbo Shop...Creole Combination Platter
Pat Obriens for Hurricane compare to the one at Lafites Blacksmith Shop
Take the trolley to Garden District...take in Commaders Palace for Turtle Soup and .25 martinis if correct day

Hit up Preservation Hall for jazz

Frenchmen's Street for live music

Edit...I could spend all day at WW2 museum but that would take away from your time in NOLA if you have never been

Got a reservation to gw fins on Thursday night
If you can't handle the stress, log off until August. If you can handle the stress, be supportive and donate to United. No more buildings and concrete. Gotta channel funds to the collective for now.

We are going next week but are skipping out on the plantations. Can't make ourselves spend most of the time traveling too and back. Round trip transfer is longer than the tour

I think the Times Picayune, the local paper has probably the best restaurant reviewers. I will research their reviews and see what is happening over the weekend. Seems to cater to locals so you can find some fun and maybe quirky things to do. However if you have not been there at least try to find a table downstairs At Galatois and get a Pimm's at the Napoleon bar.

Any good places to watch the ND game Saturday near The Westin New Orleans? Manning's looks like it may be a zoo.

We stayed at the Ritz the week of Thanksgiving. It was decorated for Christmas. Great location and beautiful hotel. Rooms are great

The tour guides in the quarter do a history/ghost bar tour where you can hear stories and drink. Check who is playing at Tipitinas. Calendar Tipitina's I think games are being shown at Urban South Brewery, but Finn McCools is also a great bar for overall football watching.

Edgar Degas House
- Cafe Du Monde

Also: I agree with these AND there is a Cafe Du Monde in City Park near the New Orleans Museum of Art. Also around that neighborhood, the Deuches Haus might be doing their German Christmas market around that time.
