Just read an article about AA having to halt all flights temporarily yesterday got me thinking how airline travel has been this week if it's pretty FUBAR or ok. I want to say in my experience, this year has been smoother than the previous two years rebounding from Covid. How's this week treating air travelers.

No issues yesterday flying International into Houston and then to ASE.

I will say Global Entry was crucial (at least use Mobile passport control). The GE line was 30 seconds. The regular line was at least 90+ minutes. ALOT of people missing flights because they didn't factor in customs.

Flew SWA on Sunday morning to San Antonio for Christmas with in-laws and then back again Sunday night. No issues

My buddy's AA flight out of DFW got pushed from 9am to 1pm today

When did you put in your app? Mine took like 2-3 months for conditional approval. Then I did the interview when I went through Customs the next time.

It's extremely helpful at DIA, IAH, LAX, and MIA.

Is that for if you don't have GE ?

We applied in early October. Wife got her conditional approval within 24 hours and we did the interview at IAH back before Thanksgiving. My kid got her conditional approval right away also.

Yup. It'll save your life. Download the app, and when you land, upload your info into MPC. and you'll skip a FAT part of the line. MPC has its own lane. Not sure why more people don't use it. I assume because they don't know about it.

"After downloading the MPC Application from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, eligible travelers will be prompted to create a profile with their passport or LPR card information. Upon arrival at eligible Preclearance locations users must select their mode of entry in the application as "Preclearance" before selecting their departing Preclearance Port of Entry. If a traveler is not using preclearance, upon landing in the United States, travelers will select "U.S. airport" as their mode of entry and then select their arrival airport or seaport and terminal. Travelers will then take a self-photo and answer a series of CBP inspection-related questions. Once the traveler submits their transaction through the app, travelers will then bring their physical passport to a CBP officer to finalize their inspection for entry into the United States."

Mine took about 60 days for approval. My guess is yours will clear sometime right after NY.

Zero issues for me this week. Flew out of HOU to DEN on 12/22 and smooth sailing! DEN was busy a little more than usual. I'm a bit of a nerd and time myself to see how quickly I can get to my rental car. With a family of 4 and 2 kids in tow we were picking up our car 30 min after landing. It is even possible to carry on for a ski trip. Hoping all have a Great Christmas

We landed at IAH on 12/23 at 3:06 and were through GE by 3:15. We had our bags by 3:20 and were in the rent car at 3:35. Not sure ive ever cleared customs gotten my bags and left the rental car lot flying International through IAH in less than 30 minutes from touch down. Not pulling into the gate but actual touch down. It was amazing.

AA flight out of DFW this afternoon has already been cancelled.

I have zero faith in those slap dicks, The last trip we tried to take AA did the same thing. Cancelled flight hours in advance. Inbound was already inj the air so that wasnt the issue. It was pre-emptive due to upcoming storms. They ended up delayed a few hours. Not a cloud in the sky when our cancelled flight would have left. All of our subsequent flights were eventually cancelled because they were when the storm actually arrived.

Totally jinxed myself. Flight out of IAH was delayed from 830 to noon for technical issues. Supposed to arrive RNO noon. Next Connector out of DEN not until 9pm. Luckily we srambled and booked SW out of hobby. Arrive noon also. Hope we get there on time !

Anyone at DFW this morning have an update on how bad it is over there? I got an email from AA recommending that I arrive 2-3 hours before my 3:45 flight to Boston. I'm all about arriving early, but 2-3 hours seems insane

The problem with DFW (or really any airport for that matter) after a holiday is all the bumblers who drive in to drop off family who typically don't visit the airport from one year to the next. They clog everything up due to confusion of where they need to go, then take 10x as long to drop off their passengers. I flew out for work on the Sunday after Thanksgiving a few years ago and the main spine road was backed up so bad that it took me nearly an hour to get from the entry toll plaza to the terminal A garage. Never again.

second flight cancelled. AA knows their business less than any company Ive ever encountered. Second vacation **** on. I understand wweather happens. Just ****ing know your **** and stop rebooking to flights later at night that you turn around and cancel an hour later. Pulling the plug this time, suffering through the 7 cancel/rebook BS we had with them earlier this year. F off and fall from the sky.

Shooting inside terminal 4 at Phoenix Sky Harbor overnight and a stabbing in one of the parking garages.

We also just got cancelled by AA out of DFW - rebooked to a red eye. Not holding my breath at this point

Connecting through IAH tomorrow. Hopefully we'll be ok.

2nd flight already delayed. Now looking at 2am arrival

Daughter and family had a connection from DFW, landing in AMA at noon today.

That flight was cancelled, they were on next fight arriving at 4:30

That fight boarded about 45 minutes ago, and just now (5:13) took off

At DFW - flight has been delayed four times. Looking at 4am arrival if we actually get off the ground in the first place

So it sounds like if you arent on AA you're good.

No issues yesterday on UAL.

AA flight took off at 11:16pm (8 hours later than we were scheduled). Arrived in Boston at 4am. Got luggage at 4:45 and rental car at 5:30. Complete cluster, but at least we made it and vacation can start now.

AA is the worst when it comes to delays and cancellations.

We've had flights cancelled in the middle of the night before an early am departure with no notification.

And they were pulling the same delay, delay, delay, delay…cancel in CLT this past summer. It was due to weather, but the way they handle it is atrocious.

And their customer service at the airport when all of this happens is the worst. We saw probably hundreds of people waiting in a line to talk to one desk agent at PHL summer before last.

Flew United from SLC to IAH yesterday evening. No issues for us but IAH had a lot of people standing around looking annoyed.

Finally at the Polaris lounge at IAH waiting for our flight to Munich. Didn't want to post anything and jinx it.
