NE Florida is the one corner of that state I have no idea about. I've done some research after getting my job offer. Have 3 kids so is either Nassau county or St John's the best areas due to school districts or is there good pockets with Duval county or west of Jax? I'll get to ease into the job until oldest is out of school in May then full time at HQ in Jacksonville.

What my friend said who has lived there for a decade plus. He and his wife also started a classical charter school as well so he is pretty tuned in I think:

West of Jax, not really. All the good parts of town are east (beaches) or south (nocatee/ St. John's county). But within Duval there's lots of great areas. Just pull up a crime map to see what to avoid. The farther from downtown the better. Also we have a ton of charter schools and Florida has a universal voucher so they get $8k/kid for private school too.

Jacksonville is huge geographically,

What area are you working in, as that would also dictate where you would want to live

Best area for families IMO =
South Jax, South of 295, St John's or nocatee

Not west Jax

Beach area fun, schools won't be as good as st johns tho

E-town, schools won't be as good as st johns tho

Seven Pines, schools won't be as good as st johns tho

San Marco, a lot loser to work, schools won't be as good as st johns tho

Commute from St Johns/Nocatee could be 45-60min (depending on when you're coming/going)
