Has this been an issue for anyone?

I reserved a car months in advance at a certain rate. Then come my trip, after I returned the car the receipt shows a higher rate. I didn't notice this till I was already in the airport, but I called Hertz and they said my reservation rate was not guaranteed and basically they can change it at any time.

No where on my initial reservation did it make clear it was not a guaranteed rate. I've rented multiple times before and this has never happened.

For me it was only about $30 total but I started looking online and some people said their rate doubled.

Turo was ol for our Hawaii trip.

I've never had my rate change, but I have had the extra insurance tacked on when I declined it.

And I know I declined it because we can use our corporate code to book personal rentals. The extra coverage is included in the corporate rate. So I NEVER accept it.

When I called to get it corrected, the agent on the phone said they would "remove the charge this one time as a courtesy", as though I was trying to pull one over on them.

I think it's a scam they run - they see the corporate code and think a big company won't notice a few more $ added on to the total bill. Since I was paying with my own dime, I noticed the discrepancy.

Not really bait and switch, but I feel like Turo is the most egregious out there for nonsense fees.

By the time you add stuff like a "trip fee," whatever the hell that is, your $100/day rental turns into $250.

I also had a Turo canceled on me at 2 am the morning I was flying to Orlando. Said the car was in the shop and was delayed so wouldn't be ready in time. You're a lot more SOL in that situation than using a rental car company.
