For those who saw that Postcards From Earth movie at the Sphere, how crowded was it? If crowded, was it hard to get transportation back to your hotel afterward?

We saw U2 there earlier this year, and are going to the Eagles next month (it helps that it's a driveable distance for us). I loved the U2 show, and thought the Sphere visuals and immersive sound (and haptic seats) were amazing.

That said, I don't think I'd pay to see anything other than a concert there.

I saw U2 there almost a year ago. I wish we were there longer so we could have seen the movie.

They will be showing a film about the U2 concert residency in the coming weeks I believe
Friend saw the Eagles last weekend and said it was unbelieveable and better yet different then the actual postcards from the earth show

Same here. Open date for Aggie football comes at a good time for a trip to Vegas. And coincides with the Eagles.

It's already started. I know some folks who went last week and said it was amazing ... you forget U2 is not actually live.

We saw U2 there in January and going to see the Eagles November 8.

Looking forward to another trip to. Vegas.

I saw the U2 concert earlier this year and can confirm the show took full advantage of the Sphere's capabilities. Everyone was staring wide-eyed at many of the effects.

This sounds interesting. They are considering an $80mm adaptation of the Wizard of Oz for the Sphere.

It's weird to me that a band like eagles is doing sphere. I've never seen them, but are they visually interesting at all?

Sphere seems to be made for visual bands like Tool, TSO, Muse, Metallica, maybe some pink floyd stuff, etc.
Hell, Ghost would be badass there too.

Productions at the Sphere are expensive, because of the extensive, immersive video work that's required. Each song usually has very specific graphics.

So a couple of things come into play - the band has to be able to draw a large enough audience to have numerous shows, to offset the production costs. And it has to have a large enough audience that can afford expensive tickets.

Bands like U2, Dead, Eagles all have older fan bases that theoretically have more disposable income, and are willing to fly to Vegas for shows like this.

While the visuals for a Tool/Ghost type show would be very cool, I don't know that they have the type of fanbase that could support 20-30 shows at the Sphere and make it cost effective for the band and the producers.

Looking at catching The Eagles in March and trying to figure out where we want to sit.

Besides the obstructed view tickets on the lower level is there anywhere to avoid? With the immersive visuals is there any real disadvantage to sitting up high in the 300/400s?

Trying to find that sweet spot between a decent seat at a mid-level price point and a crappy seat at a budget price.

We went to the 3rd Eagles show in late September and had tickets in one of the 400 sections close to the middle on row 2 and they were excellent seats. Everyone in our group of 7 loved where we were.

Metallica would be great at The Sphere.....The other ones listed would never be able to play there simply for the reasons the other posters mentioned. Hell, I'm damn near 40 and I've never heard of TSO and Muse. I've only heard of Tool because they used to sell there stickers inside vending machines at the local pizza parlor growing up. I damn sure wouldn't recognize there music.

just because you don't know a band doesn't mean it won't attract their fans.

Tso is trans Siberian orchestra. My mom knows who these people are.
Muse has toured arenas in the US for 15 years or so.

I'm older than you, I don't know how you haven't heard of these bands…. But I'm also a rock/metal guy.
Ghost is doing arenas now for a while as well.

Again, my comment was more on the visual aspect of these bands, not necessarily how well known they are.

But I don't discount the fan attachment to specific bands.

gotcha on TSO. Yes, they would probably do well at The Sphere especially during Christmas time/NFR.

I don't think American metal/rock bands would do well long-term here. Vegas has a ton of international visitors and a more global act would work much better - or some random EDM act. A random John/Jane Cho flying in from Shanghai doesn't care about Tool. Needs to be some defaulted Daft Punk light show or something to pull in folks. Most people are there to experience the venue and to take pics/vids. The tech is insane but I honestly do see this venue struggling without having a quality resident or another proof-of-concept movie soon.

It's definitely awesome, no denying that. However, I don't think Dolan knows what he has to do to keep it open.

Any seat in the 300/400s are fine.

Saw Postcards there

Going three times for work related stuff over next four months

Going to see Eagles or Dead and Company while there and also the U2 immersive show from their previous residency.

Saw the Eagles in October. Awesome show in a mind-blowing venue. I'd pay to see a band I don't follow, just to see what they do with the Sphere.
