Looking for recommendations for travel and diving insurance. I would prefer a yearly policy since I take a few trips per year. Most travel insurance does not cover high risk activities such as diving so typically I get both travel and diving insurance.

We usually buy travel insurance (something different) from Generali. There are other providers also, so shop around.

I just joined DAN and got the scuba diving insurance through them. I figured there's probably not a better coverage specific for scuba diving than DAN.

Good on you for being a DAN member and buying their accident insurance. They will medicav you anywhere in the world to a chamber.

I use Generali for trip insurance. Many people use Travelers and Allianz. I think they are all about the same.

Also a member of DAN… pretty cheap for what could be a very expensive problem.

For medical my yearly plan is with Allianz. I would do a separate policy for diving.

Allianz and RoamRight are good options. JMac got me on those resources and I had to use RoamRight a few months ago, super easy to get a claim going and reimbursed.

As far as DAN goes, they are simply the gold standard. In fact, I really don't know of anyone else offering dive accident insurance anymore at that level.

When I crewed dive boats, I always asked for divers to put down their DAN info on their customer sheet. And if they didn't have it, I'd tell them that they had time to call and get it. A chopper ride in from the Gulf and then a multi day ride in a decompression chamber can be financially devastating.
