Trying to find a safe and reasonable hotel (not a total dump) along I-10. I'm cool with Motel 6 and the like, but some of them are dumps.

Going to a friends funeral in Houston - coming crom East Tennessee. Plane tickets this soon are way too $$.

Exit 20 in Sulfur has all the major chains and is plenty safe.

University in Baton Rouge is another safe cluster I have used. On the south side of 10, a little west of the split.

LdL or the Nugget are where I would stay if I wasn't paying.

Drury Inn in Lafayette. Free happy hour with food as well as a breakfast.

We stayed at one of the Marriott chains in Lafayette (thinking Springhill). Lake Charles or Sulphur is a good option too.

It's a little off I10, but Pat's Edgewater Inn. Oh, yeah, and eat at Pat's of Henderson also.

You are welcome.

The doubletree in Lafayette is surprisingly cheap but it's not super close to i-10. There's various degrees of sketch right off the interstate at ambassador caffery, but I think it feels sketchier than it really is. Maybe I've just been lucky.

The Renaissance Baton Rouge hotel would be a good option....

The Cook Hotel on LSU campus is great. Just have to hit it at the right time to get a room - preferably when school is out and there is less traffic on campus.
