My wife's family is trying to plan a family reunion for the summer of 2025. We're looking for recs on a place to host 30-40 people, ranging from ages 1-68. Any sort of lodging that could possible provide food with any sort of activities (swimming, hiking, shooting, sports courts and so on). No real budget or specific location. We will have folks coming from CS, Houston, Dallas and Denver. Thanks!

Check the state park web site for place with lodges. When I was a kid, we spent a lot of summers with a group of friends in the beach lodge at Lake Brownwood. It was primitive, bunk beds and a shower room in one end for males, one at the other end for females. In between was a large common area and huge kitchen.

Each family took a turn preparing and serving a meal, another cleaned up.

My first question is this a destination the family is wanting to drive or fly to?

I think everyone would like to drive, but everyone understands that some might have to fly. Some examples that we've come up with are a family camp place in western Kansas, beach trip to Florida, or a cruise out of Galveston.

If it's in the summer and you have family in Colorado go to some place in Colorado. Lots of options in the state. Since summer is off season from skiing you can find lots of places in the ski towns. Check out Breckinridge. We've been there many times and they can accommodate what you want. We did an Airbnb that accommodated 20. There are also plenty of condos available. We had a family reunion in Winter Park several years ago, and there were about 40 of us. Just check around. If you want to do a lot of outdoor stuff then you don't want to be in Texas in the summer.
